Like hardware, Nintendo's total software sales were down during the April - June 2009 quarter. There were some flickers of life, but generally, sales are down, down, down.
For the DS platform, total software sales reached 29.09 million during the quarter compared with 36.69 million during the same period last year. Down elsewhere in the world, DS software sales were up in Japan: 7.17 million units compared to 4.93 million units during the same period last year.
Regarding Wii software sales, the total sales for the period were 31.07 million compared with 40.41 million during the same period last year. Sales were lower in all regions with software sales down by more than half in Japan.
