With the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. just two weeks out from its release in Japan, Nintendo is holding little back. Today, they've tossed up five minutes of mostly in-game footage for us to look at. If you have any nostalgia for Nintendo, you'll enjoy this.
The extended trailer is all in Japanese, but you can probably follow the gist. They're showing characters, stages, items, assists and modes.
Around 2:30 or so you'll see some of the side modes including the series-staple home run contest and target smash.
At 3:00 you'll see Smash Run, a mode that has players fighting enemies in labyrinths, collecting stat-boosting items and then, when the timer's up, taking their stat-boosted characters into a classic Smash Bros. fight.
Smash Bros. on 3DS has the same character roster as the upcoming Wii U game, but it has different stages. The 3DS games' stages are largely (all?) based on previous portable games mostly from Nintendo (As for non-Nintendo source material, there's a Pac-Man stage, at least).
The portable Nintendo fighting game will be out in North America on October 3. The Wii U version is slated simply for "holiday."
