In 2003, Ion Storm had the unenviable task of releasing a sequel to the critically acclaimed Deus Ex. Released during a time when the intersections of console and PC games were hazy, the end result is Deus Ex: Invisible War. It’s definitely not a good Deus Ex game. But is it as terrible as people say?
Invisible War offers an exciting world full of cool factions, fun powerups, and mystery. It’s also a cramped, awkward, and terribly linear entry to a series that’s all about expressive gameplay and fancy level design. Join me as I blow the dust off my Xbox and play through the opening level so that you will never have to.
