As previously reported, Nintendo's getting into the toys-into-game business with collectible figurines they're calling Amiibos.
The Amiibos figures were shown off during a segment for the new Smash Bros. game, where Nintendo president Satoru Iwata touched a Mario figure to a Wii U gamepad and spawned a Mario character into the match. Later on in the digital broadcast, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime discussed how Amiibos will store player data as well.
