Konami's hack and slash, Blades of Time, might not win this year's best in the genre award, but you would at least expect the narration to be less obnoxious. Protagonist Ayumi has a penchant for not. shutting. up.
I'm all for a sense of company while I play a game. Narration and idle dialogue (or monologue) is great when done well, if games like Dragon Age: Origins are any indication. But this chick is nonstop chatter. Even mid-battle she keeps the single calm tone she uses to run her mouth.
At points of time in a game, I like silence to listen to the subtle sounds of the environment and be able to think to myself while checking out the scenery. But Ayumi demands your attention at all times.
