I didn't realize how much "Do Wop Dow" Sonic the Hedgehog 4: episode 1's music was missing until I listened to Marc Gordon's jazz scat remix of the game's soundtrack. It might even be more "Do Wop Dow" than you can handle.
Gordon, better known in ROM hacking circles as Cinossu, takes Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1's retro soundtrack, mixes it with samples from a keyboard's "jazz scat" samples, and created the most finger-snapping, toe-tapping mix of Sonic music ever.
Cinossu discusses what he's done:
Every zone and every act is covered. Every jingle is too, and in some cases have been extended. Certain liberties with the sequences were taken for some tracks to make them sound better. For example, Mad Gear Zone Act 2 has a very weird chord-change after the intro. I changed this to match the intro more. Final Boss is a major change, with the second part original-ish, based on chords from the Final Boss music and the sequence from Boss Pinch.
The final effect is mesmerizing. You can download the full album for free at the link below.
