Best known for Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, Activision Blizzard has joined a corporate initiative to help improve literacy in science, technology, engineering and math (the STEM fields).
The initiative is called Change the Equation and was launched by President Obama last week. It is a non-profit organization that joins CEOs and teachers and aims to increase STEM education.
"Investing in, and collaborating on STEM education has been a priority for our company," said George Rose, Chief Public Policy Officer at Activision Blizzard. "STEM literacy is a business imperative for our nation's economic excellence, success and citizenship. Our collaboration will not only help students, but will revive our economy, fuel our competitiveness, and ultimately empower our nation."
Activision Blizzard plans on using video games to promote interest in STEM fields.
Activision Blizzard joins founding members Time Warner Cable, Sally Ride Science, Kodak, Intel and Xerox as part of the Change the Equation effort.
