AQ Interactive and developer Artoon are set to bring one of the worst games of the current generation to the PlayStation 3, announcing Vampire Rain: Altered Species for the PlayStation 3. Why exactly they would do such a thing remains a mystery, but insiders around Kotaku Tower suggest they're going to attempt to sell the landmark 3rd copy of the game.
"We are very excited to bring Vampire Rain: Altered Species to the PlayStation 3," said Artoon President Naoto Ōshima. "The incredible power of the PS3, will allow us to give gamers a fully immersive experience. This will include: 5.1 channel audio, over 50 hours of gameplay, extra bonus levels, a lot of completely revamped animations, character interactions and much more."Hehe...he said re-vamped. So basically this isn't a straight port of Vampire Rain, but the original with extra stuff tacked on. Unfortunately a pile a crap with more crap on top is still technically a pile of crap...just a bigger one. That, and adding a word that rhymes with feces to the title just makes witty game reviewers salivate. Bad idea.

May 8, 2008 - AQ Interactive announced today that it will bring Vampire Rain: Altered Species to the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system. The exciting stealth action game will be developed by industry veteran Artoon, which has developed such blockbuster titles as Blue Dragon, Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Yoshi's Island DS and many more.

Vampire Rain: Altered Species is an intense game that takes place during a dreary night in a suburban, west coast city in the US. For some time now, mankind has been battling the ferocious and terrifying Nightwalkers, a race of superhuman vampires who crave human blood. People have been disappearing at night; the lucky ones are found dead, but those less fortunate are reborn as Nightwalkers, and are bound by instinct to forcefully recruit unwitting victims into the Nightwalker army. Gamers take the role of John Lloyd, a member of a US special government unit created to defeat the Nightwalkers, and the only human to ever survive a physical encounter with them.
Aside from featuring a blood-chilling, story driven single player campaign, Vampire Rain: Altered Species will also feature a robust multiplayer mode.

But anyways, on the subject of this, all I know of the game comes from other people saying it sucked, so...
It's probably an easy port and the developers, as long as some people buy the game, will probably make enough money from the PS3 version to make it worth porting it from one console to another. Vampire Rain's cover doesn't look too bad, I can imagine how someone who's not that well informed about the game thinks he's getting a neat horror game for his money.

so, what kind of sick love is this, Lost Planet, Vampire Rain... to make mediocre are crappy ports are one thing, but to port crap is another. Where are the good games like Dead Rising, even decent games like Mass Effect or Eternal Sonata is not done yet? Why is that?
I find it hard to have anything positive to say about this news other than the picture you chose to use.
Still... I have to wonder why they'd wait until now to make this particular move. I'd imagine whatever development time it takes to put up on the PS3 won't be covered in sales... Well, I guess I can't actually know that.
Of course. The Metacritics estimates looked too good they need to come and piss on it. Listen assholes, I'd rather my console have fewer games than the competition than starting to be clogged by shovelware shit. It's almost forgivable for a game to be bad because of devs forcing originality (Lair), but this? Hopefully it sells like crap...
Like i mentioned on another site i go to, this game BETTER come out at $9.99. And if it doesn't? It'll be that much in a month.

Was Blinx any good? I hadn't heard much about it, and it seems to have fallen into obscurity.
What about Blue Dragon? It was reviewed well, right? And it did get an anime series...
But Yoshi's Island DS was bad. It wasn't glitchy, or poorly put together or anything, just incredibly DULL. Although the baby switching was a cool idea, it was just a dull game. Boring platforming, forgettable soundtrack, and uninspiring graphics (seriously, the original looks better...).
And sounds like Vampire Rain wasn't any good... so it probably won't be a second time around...

You'd think with development talent that's comprised of former Sonic Team members, and headed by Sonic' creator (that's Naoto Oshima), Artoon would have a great track record.
Blinx proved that Oshima has a soft spot for anything related to time travel (having directed Sonic CD before)
