You may know indie developer Nicklas "Nifflas" Nygren for his clean, surreal and critically-acclaimed platformers Within a Deep Forest, Knytt and Knytt Stories. Nifflas fans already know that his next project, Night Game, is in the works and not finished yet — but on his site's forums, the developer's just released a Knytt minigame pack called Knytt Nano to tide eager fans over until the next release.
If you haven't checked out any of Nifflas' games, I highly recommend them — they're characterized by simple gameplay, sprawling nonlinear worlds, cute creatures and neat ambient music and sound (which he often designs himself, to boot). You'll have to hit the forums for Knytt Nano, but the other titles are available for free download from Nifflas' site. [Thanks Anonymous, who tipped me off via Sexy Videogameland!]

Ok. I still haven't played Knytt Stories. I have a MAC. How can I get this done?!
*sees the word "Knytt" in the headline*
OMG *explosion*
Awesome as always.
Knytt stories is a masterpiece of minimalist game design. And it's a metroidvania style game. Pure joy. :-)
nifflas rules.
@depward: virtual machine with Windows, or just up and installing it
@catapult37: indeed, not to mention some of the wonderful stages that have been released for it :D
I love Nifflas' stuff, and am really looking forward to Night Game. These nano games provided a short but sweet little distraction!
@Roto13: I concur.
Seriously, to everyone who hasn't played Kyntt Stories yet [shifty eyes at depward] you MUST.
I've been playing Trackmania Nations Forever a lot over the week. But it's nowhere near as awesome for a free game as Kyntt Stories. I actually have about 3 albums on my PC of Nifflas, dfast and Zepsi who all did music for Nifflas' games. (Check out Geoffrey the Fly too- it's awesome).
And just in case you feel like you can't be bothered scrolling up again or googling 'Nifflas' his site is: [nifflas.ni2.se]
I've been enjoying the Nanos for a while, and while not as gamey as the full releases, they're still a lot of fun to get used to Kyntt mechanics.

...And Stories has a great level editor on which I've spent hours making about 10 levels...but I shouldn't get started again...
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't the nano pack released a few months back? The forum post is dated February 2008 too, so maybe it isn't just me. No worries though, Nifflas deserve every link they get.
@VoodooCream: Yeah, you're right, I've been playing them for quite a while now.
I've got to say though, that with Stories and Experiment, and their exponential growth of content, I didn't need these extras. But who doesn't love to be spoiled?
Aw, I was hoping for Jeremy Soule doing some really dark ambient.
I've never heard of these and I'm just going to say...damn you all. I've had Knytt up behind all my work all day! It's addicting and very fun to play. Love the music.
