Here it is, the first, long awaited look at Detective Maya Sunee, from the in-production Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Yes, exactly. Who? According to the official Street Fighter movie blog, she's a Bangkok gangland homicide detective. More specifically, a "no-nonsense, fast-talking, half-Thai cop who rocks a Ducati and a set of gold cuffs."
Coincidentally, I just had a half-Thai lunch! A full sized pic on Ms. Sunee, played by actress Moon Bloodgood, which I wish was my name, is over at the official site.

This movie is gonna be SO AWESOME.
That's a lot of O's in that name. Confidentially... the movie is going to suck.
Why? Why? WHY!!!!!!!!!
At least it'll be better than the DOA movie?
Moon Bloodgood... just having someone with that name in the movie makes it awesome.
That names is so awesome.. and its a girl's name which makes it better.
Though a girl named Bloodgood puts up warning signs... many many signs...
Bangkok Gangland sounds like a bukkake film.
@OGHowie: A room full of monkeys and movie equipment could make a better movie than DOA. Two rooms full of monkeys could make a better one than Uwe Boll
half-thai... and half-what? -japanese? -german? -hobgoblin?
@Tenth: Three sets of double-Os, all pronounced differently. A triumph for the English language.
She was hot in Journeyman.
@blackadvent: You're saying that Uwe Boll makes better movies than DOA, and that he's better than a room full of monkeys?
That's actually a pretty awesome sounding endorsement.
And..This movie is going to suck.
Ick. That's Chun-Li? She's uuuugly. And her outfit sucks too.
@SaanZ: You think that name is cool? I met a Police officer with the last name Kill. So people addressed him as Officer Kill.
Bringing in characters that don't even exist in the Street Figher canon... now THAT's how you make a Street Fighter movie.
(Fucking retarded, movie has now officially died in my book.)
Moon Bloodgood? Seriously?
I am completely checked out of video game movies, so the sheer ridiculousness of that name is the only thing about this story that interests me.
Moon Bloodgood. You almost don't need to say anything else about it.
Dear Hollywood,
It's obvious you didn't learn from the last time. It was all well and good at the beginning, some news tidbits sounded great. Now, this screenie surfaces...
Quit while you're ahead.
Signed,
The SF Fans (I'm speaking for you all, yes you would rather have it this way)
If it comes out the same time as the dbz movie itll look like fuckin citizen kane.
@sir_carrot: And the reading comprehension award goes to you, fine sir.
@sir_carrot: No, if you read the post, you would know it's Det. Maya Sunee, who, we can only hope, is Chun-Li's hot lesbian lover. I would definately pay to see the movie if that were true.
why cant video game to movie get the same care and pay homage to the source materials like comic book movies do?
look at the new batman franchise, superman, iron man, spider-man, hell, SM3 and X3 sucked compared to the prequels but they;re still pretty damn good! at least they dont create stupid new characters like they;re doing here!
@evslin:
Yes, she was. Probably the best part of that show.
Face + Palm = This movie is going to be horrible.
for some reason, i keep reading her name as "Moon Bloodgod". FROST!!!!!
@SkutSkut: And your name sounds like an onomatopoeia for things in said film. :D
Olivia Munn?
Uhm... why do I get the feeling that this movie is going to suck total ass?
Moon Bloodgood from Day Break and Journeyman? I may swoon at my computer. I may just swoon. She's dreamy!
o_O
Wait... Who?
Damnit no!
I wonder how you see the world when your name is Moon Bloodgood?.
@frostcircus: What? Three sets of double-Os, all pronounced differently? The double-Os in 'blood' and 'good' are pronounced identically, unless specifically in her name they aren't, in which case it isn't English anyway.
Hang on guys - maaaybe during the course of the movie something happens and this detective goes 'rogue' using the name... Crimson Viper! Bang, nifty tie-in to SFIV, eh?
Just wanted to throw out there the one way they could make this not totally stupid.
@Korlis:
What planet are you living on? Blood and Good do not rhyme. Now pay attention...Blood rhymes with Mud, Flood, Crud. Good rhymes with should, would, could.
Two totally different phonetic sounds. Time to get your Hooked on Phonix tapes out and give them a listen.
Moon Bloodgod?
Anyone else read it like that? I do, every time I see it.
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
Everyone is saying this is going to be shit but I don't know, I'm holding judgement till I see the movie. It can't be any worse than the first Street Fighter movie: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue *shudder*
@sir_carrot: No, Kristin Kreuk is playing Chun Li. She's orders of magnitude hotter, but 50% less asian. Its a design trade off, for sure, but it's still a net gain in asian hotness.
@solar_tf: I'm hoping for hobgoblin cause then maybe just maybe we'll see her hobgoblin family and I don't really have to pick a part the plot problems with the movie.
I like how most of the soldiers are looking to our left while the one soldier doesn't know what's going on.
@cowboyshootist: Actually, Korlis is right. Blood phonetically spelled would be Blud and Good phonetically would be Gud
@MasterDex:
Pronunciation:
\ˈbləd\
Pronunciation:
\ˈgu̇d\
I don't understand how Warner or Universal can green light projects like DBZ and this garbage.
Most consumers have a lightbulb out and get baited on the market, but the target audience for these two genres has to be dimmer then a bean to actually pay money to support such films.
@SkutSkut: Hey, at least it's not Banggang Kokland! ;)
Moon Bloodgood, sooooo very good looking in the short lived Daybreak series.
As for movies such as this, expect the most awful movie you'll ever see and maybe, just maybe, you'll end up leaving the movie thinking... "eh, wasn't that bad"
Go Kristen Kreuk as Chun-Li!
This Korean infused girl is pretty nice as well.
It's interesting how much personality we attribute to names, and how fickle it is.
For example, I doubt she would be nearly as popular if her name was "Moonblood Good". I mean, yuck man.
@Torley: Yes, an opportunity to use my favorite emoticon! Ready? Okay...
D:
@MasterDex: No, he actually is incorrect...'blood' and 'good' have no phonetic similarities at all...
@cowboyshootist: perfect analogies to demostrate the sounds ;)
All that being said, it's still a kick ass name.....now whether the movie will hold the same kick ass-ness is WHOLE other story. o_O
Coincidentally, her name, Moon Bloodgood, sounds like it could be the title for a karate flick with some serious good blood scenes.
I got to "she's a Bangkok gangland homicide detective." before I started laughing. Not because it is absolutely craptactic, I just read it wrong.
@MasterDex:
Not to be super pedantic, but outside of a stereotyped accents, where does the word goods rhyme with suds?
Also, you can totally have out of cannon characters in a Street Fighter movie (if they die (when Chun Li kills them with her feet)).
All I know is I'm there if they have Akuma.
Introduce all the non-SF characters. Introduce Mortal Kombat characters. Have Uwe Boll direct. I'll see it if I get my Akuma on.
The first Street Fighter movie killed Raul Julia. I wonder who will be killed by this one?
@evslin: yes, she was. sadly, the show was cancelled :(
@Seventh:
IIRC, Moon Bloodgood is Native American.
@LobselVith: Nix that... I'm mistaking her for another actress. ^_^
@ParadeDC: There is/was a cop in the city I used to live who's name was Capanigro. I think he was either a sargeant or captain.
Back on topic, why introduce someone in the SF movie who's not even in the game?
while capcom canon is usually a load of crap, movies licensing a property and then operating outside of its established canon are the steamingest loads of crap.
Moon Bloodgod?
They should have kept her real name.
Detective Maya Sunee, code name Crimson Viper, right? Well the pic could pass for a badly dressed Viper w/ close enough hair-do.
She goes detective-ing in designer clothes. With cleavage.
That's enough for me.
I loved playing as Maya in Street Fighter t....oh wait, who again?
Moon Bloodgood must be the taken name of hers, i.e. not actually a real name, just something so us poor English people don't have to try and mangle her Thai name.
Birthname: Korinna Moon Bloodgood (from imdb).
The only thing I've seen her in was Pathfinder and that was movie was pure *#$#!
She's hot, I'll give her that. But just because crap is wrapped up in a nice bow doesn't make it any more pleasant.
