2014's Best Photos Of Space Are Sometimes Funny, Sometimes Scary

Every year, Britain's Royal Observatory in Greenwich (yes, of Mean Time fame) holds a competition recognising the very best photos people take of space. This year's winners include a giant horse and an accidental video game tribute.

The best "deep space" photo, below, was taken by Bill Snyder. If you've ever heard the term "horsehead nebula" and wondered why it had such a stupid name, now you know.

My favourite, though, is this shot, the winner of the "people and space" category.
