@relatively_speaking: I think you'll find it's probably more that the auteur theory doesn't fly in video games — and even if it does, Tim Schafer has demonstrated that doesn't equal sales. Cataclysm will make or break the game for a lot of people. I know a lot of people who are preparing to come back when it launches, just to see what changes. While I'm not going to put all my support behind such a suggestion, I will say that I'm pretty sure that Unit 731 is an example of why a lot of people in Asia resent the Japanese.
