Normally, we wouldn't consider dropping the cash on another fake drum set, what with the Rock Band kit already taking up considerable space in our living room. Unfortunately, Guitar Hero World Tour's set seems so much better that we're unfortunately considering it. Why? Silent silicone drum pads for one, pads that are also a bit larger in diameter than the ones that ship with Rock Band. That silicone also gives them a little bounce, making drum rolls a little easier to pull off.

The new drum heads are also velocity sensitive, which registers lighter and harder hits depending on how hard you bring down the drum stick. You can also mute the cymbal pads, for dramatic Tommy Lee style moves that coincide with a stick point at the imaginary camera man filming your performance.

Did I mention it's also wireless? The full sized kit is pictured after the jump.

DISCUSSION

@LittleBigPlaneteer: "and will certainly get a few of you naysayers to start paying attention"

No. It won't. Because most of the naysayers are saying nay because they're pissed that they're going to have to buy a second full set of equipment to fully utilize the new modes on top of the brand new wireless guitars a lot of people went and got not but SIX MONTHS AGO for the last GH game.

The only way I buy GH:WT is if I can use the equipment with Rock Band. And since Rock Band uses the open standard (I can play my GH guitars with RB on 360), it's on GH to make sure that happens.

And you know what, it'd be smart for Activision and Red Octane to make it work. If the only thing keeping a LARGE portion of both casual and hardcore gamers away is the compatibility, then it's a hit they should take.

Because honestly...why would any casual gamer buy GH:WT? At least the bundle anyway. I would imagine anybody who seriously wanted the full band experience would've bought RB long before the GH:WT annoucement was made.
