It's been five years since the last totally new Shin Megami Tensei game, but here we are: A totally new Shin Megami Tensei game with the title Strange Journey.

The South Pole is covered by mysterious matter, and players are part of a crackerjack team sent to investigate — in that groovy outfit.

Atlus launched a teaser site for the game, but accidently revealed the game the same day that launched. The teaser site ends on July 24.

The game is bound for the Nintendo DS, slated for release on October 8 and priced at ¥6,279 (US$67).

Thanks Henry!

Dunno why, but I'm getting a Dead Space/Bioshock vibe off of that main character's design.

Not gonna play this, as there are few things in the world less appealing to me than extremely long DS-only RPGs that use a first person perspective, but good for the SMT series. Glad to see it's still kicking, which is a lot more than can be said about most JRPG franchises this gen. Rest in peace, Breath of Fire. ;_;

Now we just gotta see if that Japanese Persona 5 announcement from yesterday was a leak or a lie.
