Here's a Gran Turismo 5 feature list including the new Gamescom information, because I have nothing better to do on my day off....

Track Creator - tracks up to 6.5 miles in length, variables include weather, time of day, elevation, banking, and frequency of curves. You can also make point to point courses (such as Rally courses) or you can make circuit tracks (such as F1 or NASCAR type tracks).

A-Spec mode - you're driving the car, much like past Gran Turismo games.

B-Spec mode - you are the "crew chief" for up to 6 different drivers. You tell them when to pit, when to pass, when not to pass, and you have access to vital car information like lap times, damage, etc. The drivers also have differing personalities and may choose to ignore your commands.

Around 1,000 cars, 200 of which are the most detailed cars we have ever seen in any video game. Many different production and racing cars for one of the most varied car libraries of all time.

The number of tracks ranges from 20 locations with 70 track variations to 40 tracks with 100 variations. An official track list has not been released, but famous tracks like Daytona, Indy, Monza, and others will be in the game.

16 car max fields (old GT games had 6 cars racing at once! PD almost tripled the amount of cars on screen while jumping to a much higher video resolution while still maintaining 60fps).

NASCAR (like it or not NASCAR is the 2nd most popular sport in America so those millions of NASCAR fans who spend billions of dollars on NASCAR products will have only ONE console game to go to for new NASCAR video game content. This alone puts GT5 far ahead of anything Forza can offer on an emotional level for NASCAR fans. On top of that, there has not been a NASCAR-Sim style games on ANY console since Dirt to Daytona came out in 2003 so expect a lot of the die-hard NASCAR fans that were fed up with EA to pick up GT5).

Night Racing - Day to Night to Day transitions will make the 24 hours of LeMans feel even more real.

Weather Effects - although we have yet to see weather effects in action, we do know they will be present in GT5 in the forms of rain and snow.

In addition to some of those things above, here are a few things that will have never been seen in any GT game until GT5:

Online Play

Online rankings

Online photo and replay albums

Gran-Turismo TV

Movable Objects (as in more than just a couple of cones).

Cock-pit view for 200 cars, completely 3D, the rear of the cockpit is visible unlike Forza 3.

Drift Modes for both offline and online play.

Head Tracking with the Playstation Eye.

Playstation Move Support (rumored).

3D gaming and a 3D photomode.

Lastly, I will also mention that Polyphony threw out all of their old game code and started from scratch for GT5. This includes completely re-writing the A.I. code so that the NASCAR races would feature realistic drafting and pack formations at Daytona.
