PlayStation 3, Nintendo DSi Sales Cool Down In Japan

Illustration for article titled PlayStation 3, Nintendo DSi Sales Cool Down In Japan

After last week's exciting new hardware debuts, the Japanese hardware sales charts calm down a bit. Sure, the Nintendo DSi is still selling like gangbusters, but the PlayStation 3 starts its journey downward into more normal territory, moving less than half of what it did the week prior. On the flip side of the hi-def console war, the Xbox 360 doubles its week-to-week sales in Japan, making this pie chart a lot less red and a lot more lime green. Wii and PSP sales are mostly steady, with the former selling nowhere near as spectacularly as it does on this side of the Pacific. For the week of Nov. 3 to 9, here's how the Japanese spent. • Nintendo DSi - 104,897 • PSP - 43,726 • Wii - 24,726 • PlayStation 3 - 18,354 • Xbox 360 - 12,759 • Nintendo DS - 8,381 • PlayStation 2 - 5,743

PS2 is dead now sorry, I dont see the thing living past 2009, sorry.People thought that thing was gonna live until 2012? It's gonna live but it's gonna start selling 50 a month or something in Japan. When some parents stop being cheap and atleast but their kids a Wii or a 360, and 3rd party developers are seeing now that the Wii is the way to go for those cheap games. And now that the ecomony is in a rutt, expect to see less PS2 ports of PS3, 360, and Wii games since they arent gonna waste the money making stuff for a dying gen of consoles. The Wii seems to be dying down, but going steady; but Monster Hunter 3 is gonna get that thing full swing again, PS3 just got bundles right? And 360 just got some, and the RPG rush isnt over. DSi is a surprise really, but that thing is selling like DSLite sprinkled with crack.
