If thought yesterday's news of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was all you were going to hear out of this series as it celebrates its 25th anniversary this weekend, well, you're wrong. Square Enix this morning uncrated another 17 images—nine of them screenshots, the rest concept art—plus that new trailer showing gameplay, for its rebooted MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

That certainly looks amazing — the art direction is fantastic, although personally, I was a huge fan of the ultra-realistic graphical style of XI and XIV. At least this new, slightly-more-animated version will help set it apart from XI. Another concern of mine is they're intent to go with the subscription-based payment model. Personally, I have no qualms in supporting on-going development, but the consensus seems to be that subscription models are an MMO killer.
