As for Painkiller... I remember seeing this at E3 2004 and falling in love. Deeply. Its still installed on my monster rig I have at home... running 60 FPS at 1080p on my big screen. And it still looks great. A bit dated, but great.

Anybody whom loves simple games, play it. Listen to ZP. Yahtzee is right.

I have never actually played it (since I have a demo on one of the old OXM discs somewhere, I should at least try it out ^_^). But I do have the computer game, as well as it's expansion Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell. If what you want to do is blow off some steam (and waste all the population of Hell's Half Acre while you're at it), then this is an excellent way to do it.

BTW, there is another Painkiller game out there that came out last year (I played the PC demo, but have yet to pick it up). Another BTW; if you patch Painkiller, it will play in Vista (for all three of you who have it, myself included).

What I really DONT want ZP to review is ANY Nintendo Franchise Game - and Final Fantasy. Those are games that are made with fan(boy)s in mind. Back to Painkiller: I think the demo of the game (was ist an early alpha?) was better in gameplay, because you could activate slow motion (for the enemies), shoot enemies with your mighty penis extension, run behind them an watch what the physics of the game made with the enemies - lotsa fun!

]]> <![CDATA[Zero Punctuation Overdoses On Painkiller]]> Fits my take on it. I only stopped playing because when it came out, my PC would slow to a thick murky crawl (but not really go choppy, go figure) every time I was mobbed. Knowing this game that was all the time, so it was unplayable.

Other than that it was like Serious Sam with actual unified design concepts instead of random dice-rolling enemies. SS always seemed a bit too disjointed for me as awesome as it looked.

Yahtzee should be happy that there's a whole expansion for Painkiller out too.

I lolled at this one. Hard. May be some evidence that he actually is starting to slip if his little note at the end that he had recorded this eight months ago was real.
