Only reason latest socom game got 70% is because they didn't really add much from the previous games and it's not like there gonna do same thing now that they know that.

Like what they've been saying there spending alot of money and working really hard to improve killzone, the PSP one was an improvement. Plus kill zone got around 70%-80% not 60%.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about with Fable being the greatest RPG of all time... when many would argue and say that Final Fantasy 6 or any of the other final fantasy are. :O isn't the PS3 getting Final fantasy 13 the SEQUEL to games with a score of a high 80% to 90 something percent, THE SEUQEL to some of the greatest games of all time. A game made by a company known for making good RPGS :O. That's what is competing with Fable 2 even through it comes out after it's worth the wait and alot better then Fable.

I wouldn't say Halo WArs would be even that good... Think about the the number of races, and think about what the game would actually be like, RTS are better played on the PC. Right now it just seems like an idea that's gonna be canceled. We'll have to wait and see if Banjo will be good, Most rare games were a disappointment they just seemed liek prettier n64 versions with a bit of extras. Also seriously how did Gears of War get game of the year twice when it came out one year...

It's not quantity it's quality, the PS3 has more quantity of quality. The 360 has a small quantity of quality games but has a bunch of other games that aren't that good or that are on the PC. Making most 360 games not so exclusive to the 360. The PC version is cheaper and has better controls and usually had free and more content. The PS3 has more games only developed for the PS3 not for anything else making me want a PS3 more becasue I can just get most 360 games on the computer :O.

This year started out with everyone saying the PS3 had a godly lineup in comparison to the 360's but now it seems quite different. I'm only getting 2-3 games from Sony the rest of the year with this lineup (and Killzone in 2009). The lineup has disappeared. I'm much more excited for the 360 lineup right now which I wasn't expecting to happen at all honestly but Microsoft has really turned it around and thrown out a few surprises. Gears 2, Too Human, Fable 2, Banjo 3, Viva Pinata 2, and Ninja Gaiden 2 will all be games I have to pick up. While for the PS3 I only have to get MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet right now (while I'm still undecided on Resistance 2). You're right though about Halo Wars and Alan Wake. Those probably will probably both be delayed. I don't know why everyone is so excited about Alan Wake though is the thing. Nobody really knows anything about it. It's like all the people excited for Heavy Rain. There isn't much to tell about it right now except for that tech demo. Both games will probably turn out to be quite deserving of their hype though but I'm still confused as to why there's so much excitement over them. I guess I got off-topic but my point stands. I'm not agreeing to the extent he is but I do think the 360 has a much better lineup right now.

Killzone was and is nothing but a generic shooter that Sony hyped and is hyping again to be a "triple A title". It isn't. The fact that Sony fans are excited over a game like this when there are tons of other shooters just as equal is bogus. It's like how they hype summer Blockbuster movies. They have all these special effects and they're hyped, but in the end they're just generic films with lots of money thrown at them. To me, the 360 line up far surpasses the PS3 lineup, which is once again disappointing because my PS3 is barely getting any gaming use and feels like an expensive PS2/Blu-Ray/Rock Band machine.

They get a game or two for their birthday and holidays. 360 i think about late teen, 20-30 something that gets the games for them self. This would explain why microsoft claims they have the something like 8 games per console.

Fable 2 is first party. Lionhead is part of Microsoft Game Studios, just like Rare is.

MGS announced second half line-up includes Too Human, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, Fable 2, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and Gears of War 2. That is quite a potent first party line-up with a great mix of genres. Racing is pretty much the only thing missing.

Sakaguchi can pump out games this fast because:

1) He leaves much more of the development to other people. Like Lost Odyssey was actually developed by FeelPlusPlus with Mistwalker.

2) It's the same old crap (that I keep buying and playing religiously as a Madden fan) as Final Fantasy. All he does is take out his development notes from previous games and rearrange them a tiny, tiny bit.

Also Akira Toriyama did not have anything to do with Blue Dragon beyond the character design (as in, he drew concept art for characters; that's it).

For instance, a lot of you are complaining about the lack of RPGs, when Sony has ALWAYS left the RPGs to third parties. Final Fantasy XIII, Valkyrie Chronicles, White Knight Story, Shin Megami Tensei, and Disgaea 3 are all third party titles coming 2008-2009 and all of which are exclusive.

So don't put a third party upcoming 360 exclusive (like Fable 2) on the list compared to Sony's first party only titles.

Also SOCOM has a retardedly huge and hardcore following. During the PS2 days, the number of people who got the network adapter and played the various SOCOMs actually exceeded the total number of Xbox Live! subscribers. I don't really get it. I'm really not into that game (nor will I ever buy it) but whatever; some people eat that stuff up.

Yeah, I agree about the missing titles. I saw the same thing during the MS event earlier this week and came to the conclusion that they are no longer 2008 titles. And, while this Sony 1st party lineup isn't impressing me much, it all starts to make sense when you look at the bigger picture.

MGS and SCE titles are VERY important to the respective consoles. Why? Because they are exclusive. Forever. So they need marketing, media attention and sales. So, with so many (and, seriously, when you guys start to see the list its ridiculous) HUGE multiplatform 3rd party titles coming this holiday that could overshadow even exclusive 1st party titles, why not just push them back into next year?

You see, even though console and software sales increase during the holidays, games still sell big in other times of the year. Look at DMC4, R6V2, SSBB, MKWii and GTAIV if you doubt that. Big titles will sell, especially in a less crowded market. So why release such important exclusive games if they can be crowded out by huge 3rd party titles (last year, CoD4 and AC in particular)?

Siren looks decent, but unless it's affordable I refuse to pay for the episodic game.

LBP looks fun as fuck, but I personally wonder how long that fun would last for me. Unless we're able to download other users generated content, I'd get bored of it kinda quickly.

Socom looks great. Best implementation of sixaxis so far IMO. Socom has always been good. Well....till Socom 3.

I couldn't give two shits less about the NBA games. Scene It gave me many hours of funs with my 4 friends. Perhaps I should give Buzz a try.

Meh, What I played of Resistance 1 I didn't like. Killzone 1 made me cry it was so bad. I've said countless times I refuse to play shooters on the Ps2/ps3. I'll give these games a try, but I doubt I'd very much enjoy them with the super sensitive ps3 analog sticks and awkward "triggers". I did like what I played of Drakes Fortune, granted it felt very much to me like Man Raider, but god damn I hate the analog sticks with a freakin passion.

Before anyone slams me for my opinion on the controller, let me remind you to keep it to yourself. This article isn't about differing opinions on controllers.

Surely though, I'd like more announcements from 3rd party developers. I'd also like more JRPGs. Disgaea 3 is coming in the Summer, but I'd also like a more traditional type of JRPG. I don't plan to get a 360 until a couple of months from now, so I would like some JRPG support for the PS3, also.

That's the one genre I feel the consoles are severely lacking this generation. I'm hoping that each system has at least 4 JRPGS by the end of the year, but that's being optimistic.

Resistance has sold 3 million copies and has a 87 % review average. I would say its hard to heavily kill a game with those numbers. There is only 1 previous Ninja Gaiden on consoles in the last ten years, albeit in three different versions. (still the same game). Let's see, I believe Sony has a franchise called Final Fantasy or something like that in the RPG genre. The last Socom got an 81% not %70. I don't care how many games are releasing on the 360 in the upcoming months, there "premiere" exclusive lineup is just not as good as the PS3's lineup for the next 8 - 10 months. To me at least, I am looking forward to Gears2 and Ninja Gaiden2 on the 360. On the other hand, I am looking forward to Resistance 2, SOCOM, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Motorstorm 2, MGS4, SIREN and even though I am in the minority, I am also looking forward to Haze next week. IMO there's no contest.

The PS3 lineup isn't lackluster compared to the 360, it's lackluster to what was being promised by sony last year.

This year I was expecting some more high budget, high production rpgs (ff, white knight), a couple of the titles they created pre-rendered movies for (heavy rain, getaway) and a couple new IP's, and killzone 2. What I see is a bunch of PSN titles, a couple sequels and killzone being released after the holidays... BTW i honestly, don't see how anyone could miss the connection between lbp and g-mod, they're the same game wearing different outfits.

anyways, I just think I'm more surprised by the lineup from MS this year, specially considering how much rumblings there were about the PS lineup being sooo much better. I guess that's one thing the PS brand is known for... hype.

yes Gears has sold countless copies. GOW is a great game. i get it. Gears 2 should be fun too! How the hell are you judging KZ2 by its predecessor? it was an inferior title that was trying to bring a new flavor to the FPS scene. go to gamersyde and check out HD vids on KZ2. its looking mighty good, unless you are just a straight hater.

PS3 owners got their banjo fix with R&C, which by the way is a kickass game. so no one is losing sleep on that front.

so while i will admit 360 has a great line-up for 08, it cannot be ignored that Sony does as well. not better than but at least equal to.

Well let's go through your list for the sake of arguement.I'll play devils advocate. Gears 2 is the best selling game on 360 in the later half of the year(easily).Ninja G2 and Fable 2 aren't exactly AAA selling titles,but I'm sure they will do good. Moly usually oversells his games for what they are. Too Human looked very blah,but it might be average and this Banjo isn't your previous Banjo Games(we'll see how it works)
Where is Halo Wars and Alan Wake? Nothing is being mentioned..I only see two games I'll be buying..Gears and Banjo(maybe)

Firstly you got Gears 2. The first one Vs Resistance was no comparison. Resistance was defeated heavily. Hell Gears won Game of the year 2 years in a row!
Then you got Ninja Gaiden. All the previous Ninja Gaidens have scored over 90%...Fable 1 was up there with the best RPG games ever created. The game will compete for the best RPG from Oblivion. What does the PS3 have exactly to compete with that?!

Then you got Banjo Kazooie 3. All the previous Banjo Kazooie's scored above 95%.
Then you got games being made by the people who made age of empires rts games like Halo Wars etc..
There are loads of 360 games coming out, in fact there are more listed to come out on 360 then PS3 acording to metacritic. So that kind of kills yout "The PS3 is better by sheer volume" argument. Hell new games are announced all the time, even The Protector was announced for 360 today.
The only game on that list that i'm hyped about is MGS4, Kojima is a god at making great games.

But SOCOM last game got 70%, Killzone got 60%. I'm sorry but both those games sucked.

At first I was hyped as everyone else about the 2005 clip, than I was disappointed and frankly it seemed dull.
Right now I'm pleased with it again - the art direction, the STUNNING animation and the mood - I'll be picking it up for sure.

Other than that, though, I'm still happy with what they've got lined up.

Oh, and when can we learn more about White Knight Chronicle? I love Level-5, and I think it's time we heard more about that one too.

I hope there will be some decent third party exclusives, otherwise my PS3 can do a lot of folding for the next 6-9 months...

I own both systems, but more and more i been playing my PS3 with GTA and now that Metal Gear is coming out, and with it having MGO.
