I just happen to be more caustically vocal about certain topics if they seem to be inexplicably popular and/or positive (in my opinion, of course). Of course, this type of behavior might be par for the course on anon. net discussions. I remember reading about a study in AmSci a while back that stated that a person's belief in his/her opinion correlates increasingly with how many people happen to disagree.

However, I'd like to think that I offer coherent and consistent reasons for my hatred (other than OMG EVERYONE LIKES THIS MUST HATE TO BE COOL), and that I generally remain civil without resorting to calling anyone who disagrees a total douchebag. I don't hate Tycho per se; I only despise him in the same way that I despise writers like James Patterson and Dan Brown. I'm sure they're all absolutely smashing people in real life, even if I might vehemently dislike their styles/techniques.

He'd be a fine writer if he was merely indulgent; most writers are indulgent by nature. It goes with the job description, I think. But Tycho goes beyond that, into some sort of fucked-up territory where Bulwer-Lytton's Paul Clifford is hailed as a gloriously sublime work of literary perfection.

I probably wouldn't be so vitriolic if everyone else didn't insist that Tycho's writing is great. It's somewhat similar to the way I feel about certain games (Bioshock comes to mind): when everyone else was hailing it as THE GRAETEST GAME EVAR, all I saw was a SS2 rehash with better production values--and it got a bit grating to hear most folks blow nothing but sunshine up its ass.

Tycho is an insufferably poor writer that has a bad case of logorrhea. The comic dialogue is fine, but his prose is just two shades of purple short of being a bad Lovecraft imitation. Furthermore, he tends to confuse his tenses, his sentences are often needlessly convoluted, he adores the passive voice, and he suffers from a bad case of "thesaurus syndrome"--that is, he often uses very large words without fully understanding what they mean. It makes him read like an incredibly pretentious prick.

On the other hand, Gabe's posts are fine. They're simple, concise and grammatically correct, for the most part. He's a motherfuckin' joy to read, in comparison.

With web comics, it's difficult for me to separate the author(s) from the strip, as the characters are generally stand-ins for the creators to begin with. Consequently, I can't really enjoy a PA strip, since I'm fairly certain I'd punch Tycho in the mouth if I ever met him in person. But that's okay, since all my internetz comix needs are covered by XKCD.

The game is probably too big for a WiiWare release, and the lack of a PSN release i'm going to guess is because of it being developed for PC's first. Converting a PC version to run on the 360 was probably fairly simple since it is basically just another Windows platform. I doubt they wanted to invest in the engineering needed to get something to run on the PS3, or Wii for that matter.

I used to read CAD every time it updated, until one day I realised I didn't actually find it funny. Then a few days ago someone reminded me of that theory that just reading the 1st and 4th panel of a CAD comic tells you the whole story.

Turns out...it's completely true. I can't belive how formulaic that comic is. Reading the outside panels is a bit like that thing where you take Garfield out of the comics, and it makes Jon look like a crazy person.

Oh, and it's WAY too easy to be jealous of Mike and Jerry at PA. I often get the impression that they're living The Perfect Life, in terms of gaming as a main pastime anyway. I'm sure it's all hard work though and don't hate them for their success.

On topic: will be waitng for reviews for this first. Apart from anything else, the PC version will probably be $20 whereever you are in the world which is a bit cheaper than the 360 version here in the UK. Plus I wouldn't want a saved game that carries over multiple episodes, only for my console to RRoD! That and I hate Microsoft's marketplace DRM approach.

Certainly not almost-double like so many retail games are here. After only 3 episodes that's the cost of a full retail title.

Who knows, it could be that there's enough content in the game to justify the extra cost and then some, but $20 is a lot to drop to find out.
