They haven't. That's why you needed a HDD, network adapter, keyboard and mouse to play E:OA.

You mean EQOA? If so you didn't need the HDD for it, only the memory card. They never supported the HDD for it because they didn't want people to be forced to buy it, also the HDD came out after EQOA was released. You only needed a Network adapter if you had the old PS2 and you needed it for any online play not just EQOA. You didn't NEED a keyboard either as you could type with the controller but that was slow and sucked. Also you didn't use a mouse for the game either, I don't think it was even supported.

The controls for it were pretty good IMO and was easy to use. Everyone I played with (some EQ pc players) said the same thing. SOE did good with the controls for EQOA, can't say the same for game support though.

For the people that think your 50 LIVE fee covers MMOs on xbox, your wrong. When PSU came out a lot of people were asking that and MS said you still had to pay Sega the monthly fee.

Kinda *waves* with Doshu. 20 is more than most PC MMO so I wouldn't pay more than them. But would pay between 9.99 and 14.99 if the game is supported.

I played EQOA for about 4 years, until they started charging 14.99 a month which I thought was too much for a console MMO that had no future as they weren't giving us an expansion.

Uh, you realize that people WANT people to play on their servers, right? Otherwise, there would be no, you know, 'game'.

I FPS on PC (screw the half-assed console versions) and get the 'others' off of 360 - such as GTA4. One of the big disadvantages of xbox MP is the peer to peer hosting - it's just not powerful enough for the big, juicy 64-player battles I am used to. Once you play with 64 players, it's hard going back to 32. Then there's the whole controller vs. mouse/keyboard issue..

I have a PS3 and also pay for an MMO. An MMO is s totally different model though. You're paying for constant updates to the game, new quests, online events, etc.

Even if I had a 360, paying for live just wouldn't work out for me. I haven't played more than 5 minutes of (non-MMO) online gaming in the last 3 months. Over the last month, I've played EQ2 for about 80 hours (even with playing GTA IV as well) which cost me a total of $13.

That $4 gets you servers on EA games (lots of those), patches, balancing/tweaks, while WoW gives you new content about what, once a year, there have been only 3 new instances since it launched. Also, there is the expansion WotLK, which is the real content, and will cost another $40. Oh, haha, super high bandwith servers, I get the same, if not better connections on private servers. Ironically, those are free.

Although I agree, you're not paying for much as you could get for free, it still gives you your money's worth.

On Xbox live $4 gets you... well all new content still costs money, you get patches/updates for free with a silver account and theres no servers to speak of since its all p2p.

No 4 bux isn't much but the fact is you're paying for NOTHING.

Sony is notorious for touting their lips about UP and COMING projects, games, features, etc. ... but has repeatedly FAILED in almost all accounts.

IMO - Mr. Smedlely AND Sony needs to shut their trap until a formal annoucement is made about any upcoming projects, games, or features until they have a FIRM release date.

(Think COD4's leveling system with GTAIV's gameplay and mechanics. Although for it to work there would have to be only 1 Liberty City that all users inhabit.)

Maybe MMOs could be successful on consoles, but I doubt it. The games rarely require a lot out of your computer so anyone can run it, and you would have to use a keyboard no matter what platform you play it on. Personally i just don't see them taking off on consoles.

Now, FFXI didn't exactly move consoles, but it did move $100+ HDD addons. An MMO could very easily move consoles-- Microsoft and Sony would probably bend over backwards to get a WoW port.

Ask a WOW owner how many other games they bought in the last year. The system to game tie-ratios would plummet. I believe that if Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo were smart they would not get involved. Now with that being said, if the game was a sony published game than they would stand to make alot of money each month through subscriptions. Microsoft does not need to do that as they get the Live subscriptions which honestly I believe is the smarter path. It doesn't hurt sales and lets other companies reap some of the benefits. That's all I'm sayin'.
