He looks rubbish. His faceplate is too big and he has too much gubbins around him. Why does he still look the same? I got really exited when MK3 was coming out: I saw Cyrax and thought Scorpion had been turned into a robot, but no. Back he came, good as new in UMK3. MK2 Scorpion was the best. Or Shaolin Monks... This game still looks too similar to the last few. I was expecting something more along the lines of Dead or Alive or Virtua Fighter for the revamp, but no, DC characters dropped into the old games with a bit of air kombat for good measure... No thanks.

I imagine this could be a great B-Game. I'm not expecting it to be mind blowing, ground breaking or any of that, but once the price drops it could be a great budget title to have fun with.

With Midway hurting on sales I don't think de-balling arguably your main franchise will not get it done. It's kind of sad, cause I'll argue that MK II has as many nuance and glitch strategies when playing at a high level as Street Figher II. I even liked III but not as much. Ever since then downhill, the last couple they made were basically button mashers like soul caliber.

I still remember trekking daily to my local arcade to play MK2. Then Saturday morning was the 40 tokens for $5 special. So you bet I was there bright and early and stayed all day. Those were good times. And really, MK2 was the best entry in the series. But things got fishy with MK3. Sure, it was popular as hell, and I played it to death, but something was wrong. It got light-hearted. Cliche. Cheesy.

Now, this franchise has been derailed for years. If you ask me, it officially went off the tracks when it went 3D. The actors and digitized graphics were part of the MK signature and when that was removed, it just no longer felt like MK.

I'd love to see Boon & Co. go back to that style, only with newer technology. More animation, higher-res captures, better costumes, the works.

But, it seems that MK is doomed to mediocrity for the rest of its existence. This makes my inner fanboy sad.
