Based on these criterias, GoW 2 looks pretty good. I liked the first one, I'll probably be getting this one. You people act like GoW 1.5 is the worst possible thing that could happen to a sequel. There's much worse, I think. That might be conservative thinking, but if conservative thinking gets me a game that's fun to play, then that's fine with me.

I want to see some multiplayer details. As you all probably know the multiplayer on Gears 1 was slapped in at the last second, they nearly removed it from the whole game. With the huge success of the game and what other developers have done. They need to create a 18 player limit, parties, game modes, private matches. Personally, the COD4 system was perfect. That's why it had so much success.

Anyway. I think all of the new additions look cool, except for the fact that Chainsaw duels appear to be decided by button-mashing. I wish it was more of a rock-paper-scissors thing (i.e., hit x, y or b -- x beats y, y beats b, b eats x). Or, alternatively, you could try to knock the other person off balance by shoving the chainsaw in a certain direction -- I dunno, something that involved strategy would be cool. Simply put, though, button mashing pisses me off.

Other than that, I love the large-scale environments complete with Brumaks, derricks, etc. I thought the element of the locusts throwing hooks over and climbing up the sides was really cool. I hope I can shoot the hooks and watch them fall and go splat. That would be entertaining.

Anyway, I want to email Cliffy B. to beg him not to make chainsaw duels a button mashing fest. Don't do it Cliffy. There's a better, more innovative way, I just know there is. Don't sink to this level! We did not ask for better, bigger, more Button Mashing!!!!!!

GoW was great and almost prefect to start with , so expecting it to become some ultra new game is childish. "1.5"? You gotta be fucking joking. You might as well say that any sequel is really a 1.5 version because most sequels for most games stay true to their original format. I saw the trailers and I was wow'd just by the little content that they have revealed SO FAR. If you seriously think this is what to expect from the final version, you need to die. They still have MONTHS of development time to polish this game and make it top-notch stuff.

Obviously the battlefields have become huge, the whole thing ran at 60 frames, the part where Marcus shoots the locus horde is proof that the unreal engine was vastly improved and can handle an incredible number of textures and chararcters on screen and this is only a slice of the whole thing.

Call me a presumptuous cock if you want but i´m going to say people without any knowledge about programing doesn´t know squat about this and probably should remain quiet.

The game looks 10 times more fluid though, looks like it has more detail. And tons of enemies. Huge enemies - running around and everything.

The graphics look 1.5'd, but everything else is looking like definite sequel material. Anybody who says otherwise is a damned idiot.

Definitely looks improved. Wasn't planning on picking this one up at first, but it looks really fun.

I really don't know what people expect from games. You can't expect EVERY game to be mind-blowingly innovative and wholly original. At the end of the day, games are supposed to be fun. From the 2 minute video, GoW 2 looks like it's gonna be really fast paced and a lot of fun so I'm going to buy it.

That said, Gears isn't my cup of tea. It's not that the gameplay is too slow, it's just that combat feels restricted and two dimensional.

There are only three terrain types in GoW1: perfectly flat ground, smooth gentle slope, or stairs. Even the 'friggin descent in the cave level occurs on a gentle slope.

I want rugged terrain, and I also want dynamic terrain objects. One of the joys of Halo 3 was taking out a Scarab or Phantom, climbing on top of it, and then using the wreckage as a protected vantage point.

Stuff like that just isn't possible in GoW1. Anytime I want to jump (not roll!) over an obstacle in GoW1, I have to hold down a button and allow the game to take over with a scripted jump sequence. I can't even fall down from a ledge unless the game scripts the action.

Give me a slow, powerful jump that I can only use once every 15 seconds...hell, give me fall damage if I fall even 7 ft. I just want the extra layer of vertical, truly three dimensional combat that terrain 'scaling' provides.

No. But Gears2 is the big stick in the 360 closet this year. What we saw was not that graphically different from Gears1. Worse was the fact that other than the in engine cutscene, it was more like a platform on rails. The '100 Locust' discussed by Epic lacked that presence and any semblance of independent action.

Gears2 is in trouble this year. It won't be what the first one was for several reasons. Gears isn't a lone running back on an empty field this year. There are some 500lb linebackers that eat other players for breakfast. There will be no unapposed run to the publicity goal this year.

Epic has to convince gamers to buy both UT3 and Gears for the 360 this year. Sales of both will be less than they could have been due to that fact alone. I buy what I want when I want but most gamers are not like that.

Gears 2 gameplay footage was premiered in a less than stellar manner. Personally I think it reeks of pressure from Microsoft. They should have released screens for a month more before the E3 showing. First impressions count in this industry. It was a good straight right from MS but it is already being counterpunched hard.

Early estimates of April NPD figures show that despite what Greenberg stated, the 50mil DLC GTAIV maneuver by MS did not work. The PS3 will likely beat the 360 in April's North American sales. Not a good sign considering the biggest guns in the PS3 arsenal aren't on the street this year yet.

This isn't a console to console sequel. It's on the SAME console. What did you people (by people I'm guessing I'm referring to those who do not own a 360 and are bitter they won't be playing this game) expect? Halo 2 didn't look different from Halo 1. Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3 looked pretty similar. Metroid Prime 1 & 2 looked similar. Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 weren't that different in looks. Same goes for GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. This is what happens when you make a sequel/sequels on the same console.

But there are differences. This level is bigger and has more enemies than any in the first. The frame rate is even more impressive than it was in the first (it's actually silky smooth to the point of ridiculousness). There are new moves and some new gameplay. But you know -- none of that matters. The first already looked good enough, as it still looks better than any console game out there.

This is Gears of War 2. The first had one of the best single-player campaigns I've ever played through, despite its short length and nearly non-existent story. I loved it all 3 times I played through it. The first time by myself, the next two in co-op with friends. This one supposedly tells more of the story and goes deeper.

My only somewhat cynical question is -- how will they fit this on one disc when the first had to trim itself around the edges to make it? Hopefully they just bite the bullet and go for a 2 disc game rather than edit the hell out of this one for space.

Still, whatever happens, if these merely lives up to the fist, it will probably be my favorite game of the year. If it manages to beat expectations with a longer campaign, better story and all the excellent gameplay and graphics of the first? Nothing will come close.

I use my 360 for gaming, DVD, Windows Media Center Extender, DivX movie streaming etc etc etc.

Aside from the PC, the 360 is probably the most versatile peice of technology I've ever used.

As far as Gears 2 goes, it's the exact same situation as just about any games that have a sequel on the same plaform as it's predecessor. You get mild improvements in graphics, some improvements in gameplay, some new stuff and a continuation in the story.

If you're going to apply a x.5 monitor to a game, at least be consistant and stop applying it only to games relating to the 360.

For one, the game runs at a much higher and smoother frame rate this time around. That alone amazed me once the footage started up on TV, but then when I saw subtle improvements to the graphics (they're there: slightly better modeling and shading), I was sold.

Oh, and just forget the new mechanics shown in the video. (Dual chainsaw wars and body shields? Multiplayer is going to be crazy.) My analysis: if you're absolutely unimpressed, you're a jealous Sony fanboy; if you're only mildly impressed, you may have liked the first game, but weren't that amazed; if you think this game is the second coming of Christ, you've played way too much of the first Gears (sadly, I fall into this category).

I like the new chainsaw mechanic, too. It was my favourite weapon in MP (much to the chagrin of any fool trying to charge me with a shotty :D ) but the randomness of it all in saw vs. saw fights got real frustrating sometimes.

I assume you mean it has better sales than the PS3, and that might have something to do with the 360's release date being over a year earlier than that of the PS3. If you don't mean that though, and instead you mean it performs better as a system, you'd be hard pressed to convince the masses; you could always lie.

Also, did you really compare a racing game, which is by all accounts a demo, to a supposed 'big hitter' in GoW2? That's not really doing much for your point...

I checked out the video on the Live Marketplace this morning and saw improved lighting, lots more troops, a pretty crazy looking scenario with something much like pirates fighting ship-to-ship, new options for dealing with downed enemies, human shields, Spinter Cell-esque neck snapping, and a much nicer color pallete.

It looked like a sequal to Gears. Better graphics (lighting, colors, everything looked sharper), more characters on screen, more options, bigger battles.

What were people expecting?

Just after so many earth tone games, a lot of people would like to see great graphics with colors that show off their tv sets and mix it up.

I don't care either way. But it's a valid complaint, there are so many earthtone games that the pallet is getting boring, when it wasn't even that exciting to begin with.

The one thing that I am waiting to see is the multiplayer. The first Gears' multiplayer was... lame at best. That's where they have the most room for improvement in my opinion. Other companies have been upping the ante with online multiplayer (MGO, Resistance 2, COD4, GTA IV, UT3), so I want to see Epic come up with something bigger, better and more badass.

Anyway, for those complaining about the colors, i really don't understand you. The artistic designer decides what colors to make the game, not you. Would you ever tell an artist that he should have used different colors? Its their vision, not yours. You want a war that takes place with rainbow colored teddy bears then go play Halo 3. Do you complain about movies like saving private ryan because the movie uses very dark and dismal shots? This is their vision of war.

I dunno man. I wouldn't call Gametrailers rubbish. Whilst all the nitpicking comparison videos are open to critisicm, It's not worse than what occurs in your average comments section (See above). Besides. There's hardly anywhere else online that supplies both SD and HD video so frequently, for so many titles in so many file formats.

I tend to get my prose and reviews from somewhere thwt specialises in that, and get my video, likewise, form somewhere like GT.
