since when is this called a stein? i'm from germany, and stein means stone... but we never call that stein, we call it Krug... but no one except for those nazi bavarians drink out of those things... but i would like to.. i think i'm going over to münchen ( :) ) in the hofbräuhaus and snag on or two for my beershelf...

It would have nice if the Stein would change the image based on the temperature of the drink. So if it was at normal room temperature, the Stein would display the spout (Blue Portal) but as the drink is being poured and the Stein adjusts itself to the drink's temperature, the image would change to the black Stein (Orange Portal) and vice versa as the mug goes from full to half empty (or half full).

Sorry, but Portal is getting a bit over marketed, if that's the correct word, IMO. It should've stopped at the companion cube plushies. (As if I'm one to talk, I bought a load of Halo 3 accessories and drank some of the soda, and also got the shirts before and after launch.)

I'm now daydreaming about how wonderful this would be to actually have portals like this in bars. If the tender does exactly as the illustration depicts...

No sir, I don't like it.

1. I don't want the bartender/barkeep filling up the same mug I just drank out of, I want a new frosty one.

2. The mug isn't angled, I'm predicting a lot of foam and not enough beer.

3. A portal like this would be a reason to cut out the middleman. Namely, the waitress. I like the waitresses.

A definite positive would be employing the portals to allow for fewer trips to the urinal... But that leaves the question of, how do you sanitize a portal?
