PS2 is an ALL gaming platform it, competes directly with MS and Nintendo.

The PSP certainly is a multimedia device but fails at everything that isn't gaming related. When 90% of your consumer base buys the product for games I'd say you're competing with other handhelds like the DS. Not some other mythical do-it-all machine.

The 360 does all the things mentioned above that the PS3 can do. The only extra thing the PS3 is is a hacker's dream and a Blu-Ray player; neither of which are a major function for the system compared to the actual video game part of it.

In the end, Sony IS competing with Nintendo and MS even if they don't want to admit it because they're in third place in that competition.

Both platforms give so much more audio/video (not gaming) value when you enable homebrew. I.e running any type of video and audio, with playlists and equalizers, from any storage media you want. And in-game custom audio, too (irshell).
Burnout Legends lacking the best songs of Burnout3? Not anymore ww. Horrible loading times and framerate? Not anymore ww. I just wish these came out of the box, or via a firmware update. Oh well, at least the PS3 is flawless in that department.

Microsoft has the exact same plan, but on the non-gaming front they are doing much worse. They have no penetration at all as a DVD player, and obviously their hi-def solution failed. Their IPTV is still nowhere to be seen in the US (and the European version is pretty craptacular). Even their media streaming is one-upped by Sony.

MS has actually been trying to take over the home since very early 2000 with various gadgets and a bunch of crap that never got off the conceptual design stage.

Sony has done only very slightly better, where their products actually have a realistic design and make it to shelves, but almost never seem to have strong market acceptance. The whole SonyStyle life thing really hasn't gone anywhere.

Now if only the PS3's gaming was as robust.

Since back then we all used the VHS player for movies and left the videogames to the simple to use consoles...like put the game in and power then play...? That's it now SONY wants to take on the entire entertainment industry video players, music players, computers, videogame consoles, even trying to cure diseases...LMFAO.....!

And just today on the SONY Days event the whole theme was that the PS3 was a videogame system above all things first..I am so sick of the bullshit the SONY spits out.If the company it's self doesn't know how to sell the PS3 then how can a new consumer the PS3 as the ultimate in Videogame consoles or the ultimate in BluRay movie playback because it can't be both and as you see for your selves the PS3 is FARrrrr from being the best thing tof videogaming, it actually is the best BluRay player for now untill the competition takes that away from the PS3's sales as more BluRay units become cheaper and come with updatable firmware thru built in ethernet ports.
