@Uzumaki_Kiba: I have to agree Timeshift just from the demo was far more interesting from a gameplay perspective (and graphics) than Halo3, but remember halo 3 isn't trying to be daring and really runs a risk of alienating their fan base if they did attempt to be to innovative.

Timeshift reminded me a bit of Requiem Avenging angel, that had amazing powers (first Bullet time in a game as I recall maybe even before the matrix?)sort of bland story execution though...

Ehardergardens

Ahh... Poor TimeShift. It's sad, because it wasn't a really awful game. It was just an average game. It even got a pretty average amount of hype, and things were looking up for the developers. Then it was released between some rather above-average games (though I consider Halo firmly average.. bitches) and just didn't have enough on offer to make it any sort of cult hit.

It's like if Shadow of the Colossus just had you killing regular-sized people.

Uzumaki_Kiba

There's actual gameplay videos of it. I'd have to find the link the same way as you, I suggest just checking youtube and gametrailers. The game was pretty much made, and then they completely remade it. You originally were trying to save your daughter or something. And it had a steampunk look.

Which, ironically, they changed to appeal to the masses.

The masses were to busy with Halo 3 and saving for COD4, and the new look didn't appeal as much to those anticipating the game in it's steampunk form.

So, nice one. The whole handling of this game was a mess. It could of owned the summer.

karasu is my homeboy

Man this game let me down so bad. I really thought I'd like it, but the demo killed everything. No fun whatsoever playing it. I didn't find the time shifting abilities fun to play in the slightest - they were much more complicating the game than anything else. I even had trouble using the right one at the right time. No it's not because I can't handle controls in a game.

Candlejack

I played the PC version after seeing the rather effective TV ads, and stopped playing it not that far in. The level design and enemy placement was absolutely horrid. Enemies would appear only once the character had crossed pre-determined thresholds, seeing people pop into existence is not something that should be happening in a game like this nowadays. The point where I stopped playing was in a scene where two groups are in a massive firefight and the player is asked to take out the bad guys. All that keeps the two group divide is a pile of trash and debris....and an invisible wall that only bullets can penetrate. The player can't just hop the pile and lay down some time-distorted ass kicking, nope, he's got to go through some nearby building in some impractical flanking maneuver that only serves to artificially prolong gameplay.

I could also go on about an earlier point in the game with an easily abused infinite ammo crate, but I think I've dissed the poor title enough.

On the bright side, it did have some of the nicest rain effects I've seen in a game.

Skunky

There were some challenging time puzzles, but nothing as difficult to realize as using a barrel that you might not even realize is there as an elevator, lol.

The online play was filled with gamers complaining because they didn't realize you had time immunity, so if you were in a time bubble, you could escape using it.

@karasu is my homeboy: I played the demo and i found the graphics and time controls pretty good. I felt the theme and plot a little generic and flat.
Unfortunately it seemed a lot of the real cool physics/time possibilities outside of the obvious puzzles to progress, would probably not be easy to pull off or obvious to a player (just a guess) based on the fact they released a video demonstrating a simple use of a barrel as a make shift elevator, and I'm not sure I would have ever thought of it(especially in the heat of battle), and in trial wasn't able to pull it off successfully.

I plan to get it someday as it seemed like a great concept for gameplay.

Ehardergardens

Timeshft just had bad timing. If they could go back in time and release the game earlier I bet they would. Then they could forward back in time then pause and see there sales did better. Man....If only they had some kind of suit that would let them do that.

Silverwolf

Many titles go unnoticed because of competition. I don't think this is a sleeper though.

超外人

I remember seeing a clip of the protagonist of Time Shift planting a bomb at the mouth of a railway tunnel (I think) in order to destroy its doors then having to slow down time so he could run far enough away not to be killed by the blast. Why I hell would someone design a bomb like that? I knew this would be a terrible game to second I saw that clip. They forced the concept of time control onto an activity which in no way requires it.

Spiraltribesman

::cries because he knows no one is really playing this online::

Timeshift was great. It was an extremely solid and interesting campaign and strategic online multiplayer.

Unfortunetly, bad timing and people not willing to learn how online works killed it.

I'm not even sure I'll take out my copy of Timeshift to dl this because I doubt anyone will be online to play with anyway. It was a ghost town on there.

karasu is my homeboy
