To be a zombie you have to kill a Rockstar employee. I killed one at level 1 and all I had to afterwards was go to the customize character menu and it now says at the bottom press lb to be a zombie. You can only be a male zombie in Rockstar speedos at the moment.

I have 360, and I was playing regular ranked multiplayer deathmath, and I got the "Let sleeping Rockstars lie" achievement when I killed a guy, and after that I could choose the Zombie model by pressing LB...I did not have the zombie model before.

The Thing is, Theres only one way to get the Zombie Outfit choice in GTA 4, (on the Xbox 360) And thats to get the "Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie" Achievment while playing on any online RANKED multiplayer mathces. Its a viral achievement which means anyone can get it easily, It started with this. 1) Rockstar developers played along with other Xbox live members and when the members killed the developers they got the achievement which allowed the outfit to be accessed. Now for us who havent got the achievement, the only way to get it is to kill a developer, OR kill a person who has killed a Developer. Soo say your friend killed a developer and got the achievement, if you kill ur friend, u get it too.

I keep losing my online stats too. Should be level 2 or 3, remaining at 0 or 1.

I think the zombie skin might become an option when you kill a zombie. I was able to choose it from quite early on, possibly because I killed a zombie in one of my first matches?

That, or R* made it an option for everyone recently.

Ive seen one of these naked guys running around. didnt think he was a zombie, just looked naked with yellow underwear. I figured it was just unlockable costume.

UPDATE:

I don't know if everyone got the ability to make a Zombie. Cuz I've never seen other zombies out there. So, I've made a video of my Zombie on the player custom screen and running around with him. Oh and if you press L1 while playing as the zombie, he makes zombie sounds, lol.

I should also add that the Zombie has the same face as your regular online character and you can add glasses and hats to him that you've unlocked thus far.

Btw, I'm only Level 2, and I'm not sure when I got the ability to use a zombie. *shrug* But its hella cool!

I'll be posting a link to the vid of my Zombie here very soon.

My PSN is NESv1 if anyone wants to see my Zombie first hand for some reason.

I didn't get the special edition. But, where you customize your online character, you can hit L1 (ps3 version) and go customize what your zombie looks like. I didn't notice it until the other day. So, I don't know if it's always been there or what. I have yet o encounter a game mode that has anything to do with zombies or figuring out how to actually USE the zombie character.

Maybe, just a theory, he killed a rockstar dev and the achievement is viral. so if you kill one you get to be a zombie so that if you are killed by others they also get the achievement as o physically impose a face onto the "viral" nature of the accomplishment.

That's just the basic Bluray features you could do with any Linux install. That has little to do with cost effectiveness for pirates or even running ISOs pulled off the Bluray. Also you can use the BD over iSCSI, so if you run Linux you can mount the PS3's BD on your Linux PC like it was local.

I ran over a hooker I was supposed to be escourting in multiplayer last night! We had a good laugh over it. It gets pretty fast paced, and it's much better with friends than random. :)

I too have had the zombie costume for a while. I can't work out how the rank-up thing works though, and I suspect it is broken.

Anyways, my point is that when you are a zombie, hit L1 during the game to make a zombie groaning noise. Nice.

I noticed this option when I first customized my character on ps3 after maybe a couple matches so go figure. I did pwn some n00bs and win a couple deathmatches if that had anything to do with it. Haven't seen any other zombies though. Is there anyone who doesn't have this option?

Further, yes if you configure your ip settings properly, DMZ does wonders for playing online. Be sure to check for your router's proper DNS numbers. Of course, no sooner did I get that going than I was struck with the lock-up issue. Huzzah.

@SnakeCL: I had this problem. It was with my router. Put your playstation into a DMZ and it should work. You can then take it out of the DMZ but leave the settings that you did on the PS3 to do this still there and it will work from now on. Or it did for me. Search for guides :)

Guys who have the zombie option; do you also have the acheivement for killing a Rockstar employee online? If it is a "viral" acheivement it would lend credence to the zombie choice. Maybe 360 players get the acheivement while PS3 nubs get to be a zombie.

Okay I just got this mental image of having the whole of Liberty City facing a zombie infestation a la Dawn Of The Dead, Dead Rising, or 28 Days Later and it was awesome. Can you say 16 player co-op trying to survive and make it from the far side of Alderney to the airport on the other side of the city? It might not fit the story or anything but it would be a killer addition via some DLC.

@SnakeCL: Disable your network connection. Though it should be working fine now. This is assuming you're having the same issues I was.

Hopefully there's a patch coming out VERY soon to fix that little issue up...

Also, the social club is pretty much made of fail, currently.

Turn off the automatic sign in, and maybe even disable internet connection during single player.

The fact that he got it at level 2 is probably a bug.

The game lockups also seem to be caused by the internet connect, and leaving "automatic login" turned on. At least that seems to be the cause, as everyone turning it off stops having game lockups.

What I suspect is that Rockstar has had to rely on outside teams for these internet/multiplayer pieces. Levels are probably saved on Sony's servers. Internet PSN logins are probably handled by Sony.

Sucks when you have to rely on someone else.

I noticed that 'L1 for Zombie' option as well about 4 hours ago. Ive only played about 2 public online games, and I kinda thought that I had just missed it the first time round I was in the Character Model section.

It'll be kinda cool if there was only a selection of people who got this option.

This "zombie mod" is grossly offensive to the zombie community. The Association of Metabolically-Challenged Persons Against Harmful Stereotypes, the international lobbying group for zombies, has just released a press statement earlier this morning making clear that they intend to sue Rockstar and Take-Two for perpetuating the stereotypes that have haunted the zombie community for decades. And for not including any zombie prostitutes.

I'm going to have to see if I can figure out how to do this. It's going to end up like the Hayabusa armor in Halo 3 though. At first it was neat because no one else had it (coz of that pesky IWHBYD skull), but then the market got flooded with wannabe Hayabusas, driving the "value" down. It's like gamer-cred-economics.

I too have the option to press the L1 to become a zombie. I'm only level 1 and just noticed it about three hours ago after I saw another player running around in his skivvies. I'm not sure if the option was always there or showed up after that game as I only played maybe 3 online matches in public rooms(the rest of my time spent online was just hours in free mode with a few friends). The zombie is pretty neat though regardless of whether it's been there from day one or not.

@carbonelli: That argument is made for every new console. In 10 years the PS4 will be hacked. Make that PS5 if consoles will still be coming out every 4-5 years or so. Anything that can be engineered can be reverse-engineered, even the PS3.

The only smart thing Sony did to 'deter' pirating this time was releasing all games on Blu-ray. Not that its impossible (movies are already easily copied) its just not cost feasible when drives and blank media are still expensive by comparison.

Don't think for a second that once one of the main motivations for pirating (saving or making $$$) is feasible you won't see a swarm of news on the PS3 being hacked to pieces. Same thing happened to the PS2 once DVD equipment dropped for joe-everyman.

The game is amazing, it's got a lot of detail when you get down to it, I wandered around for like an hour just looking at random things in the first area where you start. However, doesn't that guy kinda look like a Vampire? Zombies usualy have large flesh wounds... :)
