I tried playing full throttle on my laptop in scummvm and I couldn't deal with the bike back fisticuffs sections, kinda killed it for me. Wonder how that part works on the wii.

Grim Fandango wasn't on the SCUMM engine, though. It was on the GrimE engine. So, sorry, won't work in ScummVM.

I have (in boxed form) The Dig, Full Throttle, Sam and Max: Freelance Police, Beneath A Steel Sky, Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I also have Monkey Island 1 & 2 which are legally downloadable from the ScummVM website.

Are you also all for people playing downloaded copies of GTAIV?

It's kind of the same concept.

Don't look at me, I actually have a nice collection of adventure games on cdrom. Doesn't mean I won't download more though (just like i downloaded GTAIV, and then bought it).

Sweet. SCUMMVM seems to be the new benchmark for homebrew - it doesn't work until you can play SCUMM games on it.

I used to play Sam & Max with full voices on PSP, but I bet whack a mole is way easier with a Wiimote!

@quen: Yeah, you have to start Zelda every time as far as I know but I do know that somebody got a channel on the main menu set up so you didn't have to use the game every time, you could just click the channel and BAM!! (BAM!! refers to starting the homebrew)

@Sloopydrew: Yes you can - follow the link trail for information. You need a copy of Zelda and an SD card. It seems to work on Wiis (well, Zelda discs) from all regions.

I haven't tried it, but although the process is a bit involved, it doesn't seem too hard. Of course it *is* rather clumsy - unless I missed something, every time you want to run homebrew software, you've got to start Zelda, load the special save file, and talk to someone (at that point it crashes and the loader kicks in).

Can you do this without voiding your warranty? I love those LucasArts point and click adventure games. In a perfect world games like Full Throttle would be what the Wii is all about. But with Zack & Wiki (a pretty good game, actually -- but not Grim Fandango level, or anywhere close) giving it a go and selling 14 copies it probably isn't going to happen, which is a shame. As is the lack of great FPS games. Metroid Prime 3 proved (at least to me) that control wise the Wii rules for the First Person genre. But instead of revolutionary new shooters or old-school point-and-click adventures we're sure to be stuck with Carnival Games 2 and Throw the Thing at the Thing Deux.
