Singstar: Franz Ferdinand and Singstar: Outkast FTW!

I'm not sure if U2 will quite work for Singstar. The original singer has a lovely voice, but the lounge-room singers may just murder the song.

I'm still holding out for Outkast's "The Way you Move" and hearing a bunch of inebriated twentysomethings desperately catching up with the super-fast verses.

I didn't expect the lineup to be nearly this good. Ramones seal the deal for me.

@swarmster: Rock band isn't a fair comparison because that's a game that launched across 3 consoles and has now hit 4. Singstar PS3 is just for one system (two if you count the PS2 games). Also you can buy this game without mics if the price is an issue.

That is a pretty solid line up but I only like a few of the songs. Jane's Addiction and Blind Melon should be in Rock Band, and perhaps a few of the tracks by artists who already show up in Rock Band.

I mean, I have a blast playing front man in Rock Band, but I'm really the only guy who gets up and sings when I'm playing and drinking with my friends.... So this game wouldn't be a great purchase for me.

Surprisingly good stuff on there! But of course, I got all excited reading "David Bowie", I scrolled down, hoping against reason it would be one of the, you know, good songs, and... Why is it always the same 1980s crap that ends up on compilations, TV shows, videogames, etc.? If they're going to pimp out Bowie's songs, at least pimp out the better ones.
(Yeah, I know there's no accounting for taste, and you have every right to love Let's Dance and China Girl, and there are no absolutes when it comes to music and art and bla-bla-bla... Still, Diamond Dogs would make for a hell of a karaoke session. Bring Your Own Make-Up.)

And U2... now that's a band you want to pick a 1980s song from. Nevertheless, a good track list overall. I mean, it is SingStar.

Note to devs/publishers: I'll buy the first music game that lets me "sing" Gil Scott-Heron. 'Cause I'm cool that way. (Plus, I can't sing worth shit. That too...)

i think the whole creating your own videos and rating other's videos could be enjoyable, kind of like a youtube for singstar owners.

the tracklist is nice and for 40 bucks its not too bad.

i heard you can use the rockband mic as this simply uses usb mics.

@KaneRobot: Two play coop singing duets is the large draw, plus large variety of music that isn't just rock is the point. Wife wants this actually, she likes to sing in Rock Band with us guys but she always is sad that it's often rock songs that she doesn't even know and would like variety.

@Eranmane: I re-read that three times, the first two times incorrectly because it didn't make sense that someone would dislike Pass the Dutchie. If they wanted to sell billions of copies, all to me, they'd make a Singstar where every song was Pass the Dutchie. As unlockables, you'd get Pass the Dutchie played backwards, Pass the Dutchie played at 3x the speed and techno Pass the Dutchie with sirens. The masses (read: me) would get the Dutchie they crave and Musical Youth would get to eat that month. Everybody wins!

And don't give me the SingStore line, Sony. Rock Band shipped with twice as many and they even had to include three other note charts for each song. Rock Band's also up to (estimating) at least 150 tracks if you count their store.
