From what I heard, Huey and Ray were writing partners before either song was published. Huey goes and records "I Want A New Drug", while Ray records the theme song to Ghostbusters. They both got paid. Ray made a bit more. The thing went to court and they settled it out-of-court.

@doubtful is karma's whipping boy: I agree. This has a couple of "It's destined to be a bad game" things going for it. 1. It is a movie. 2. It is a title based on nostalgia that could easily be crushed if not careful.

I am glad to hear that they are trying to stay as true to it as they can for the nostalgia factor. (Original cast, original sound track) The movie game factor will not apply here tho because most movie games are rushed to coincide with a films release. This one can be slow roasted to perfection.

It is a good thing that are so many good games coming out till then to keep us all busy. the wait on this one is already starting to suck.

The "nostalgia" industry is massive right now in movies and games. Producers have figured out that the people with the time, inclination and disposable income to indulge in warm fuzzies from the marketing indoctrination of the 1980s are those 25+ (it all started with eBay). You at 30 (and myself, 29) are the primary market for this game.

I just hope the Wii version allows dual-wielding of wiimotes, one as the proton pack and the other to throw the trap. *cue giddy manchild giggles*

Oh, and for the people complaining about Huey Lewis, he's getting paid royalties, and besides, that convinced Lewis to do music for Back to the Future.

Had Ghostbusters not come around, I don't think Lewis would've done the music for BTTF.

Yeah, you absolutely cannot mess with a classic. The whole point of this game is basically nostalgia (not to mention if done right it could be an awesome game).

At first when I skimmed this story, though, I will say my brain was thinking they were talking about making Ray Parker Jr. an unlockable character, which would be pretty cool as well. ;)

(and I'll agree that Bobby Brown's song was quite good as well but Ray's got the definitive Ghostbusters song)

I'm 25 and this is my absolute favorite movie. And the sequel wasn't THAT bad. I still run around saying "He is VIGO!"(especially while watching a movie staring Viggo Mortensen) and whenever people are doing something stupid I look away from them wave my arm at them and say "Everything you are doing is bad I want you to know that." It always makes me giggle. And thank god they didn't change the song.
