Misleading title, and more random commenters that don't read articles.

That is all that is said about Farve and Madden.

1) He doesn't play madden (he likes simple games)
2) He thinks most gamers don't even really know who Madden is.
3) He has beef with teammates that devote more time to a video game than a job they are paid millions of dollars a year to play.

This reaction doesn't much surprise me. I saw Letterman interview Favre recently and was shocked by what a curmudgeonly old man he seemed to be. It was entirely believable when Letterman asked Favre what he does these days while sitting on his infertile ranch and the response was "nothing much... take the kids to school."

I think Favre is just one of those guys who lives to work.

@EmerilLIVE: I used to love madden back in the PS1 and 64 era. Gameday98 was the only other football game that mattered but Madden was still tops in my book. But over the years I just gave up on it. Too many money plays, too many glitches and bugs and not enough effort put into presentation, animation and commentary.

I still can't get anyone to explain to me how Madden of today is supposed to be "realistic" football when I see too many people run 20 yards back to throw a 10 yard pass. This is even if they have a pro bowl caliber offensive line and a top tier QB. I don't understand why the game still allows for QBs that aren't known to scramble, to do just that and still complete passes under pressure. I still can't understand why an average QB can throw a deep pass to a rookie receiver in triple coverage against good corners and safeties and complete it...on multiple occasions. It goes on and on.

Why would EA allow 2k to present some of the best advances in gaming football in 2k5 and not capitalize on those advances (read: rip them off) for every version of Madden that came after? Of course sales figures would answer that...they don't need to change the game all that much because people will still buy it even though it has done nothing for the genre in years.
It's a shame really...Madden used to be THE standard for gaming gridiron action...but now, it's just a joke IMO. If Madden is my only choice for football, I just won't play the genre anymore.

@deathtastic: Not to mention that the core game has also diminished, realistic play and franchise mode are what count. As long as they are focused on the Madden Challenge 1 min quarter type BS the game will suffer greatly.

Sounds like Favre is upset that players spent too much time playing games than practicing.

Which isn't unexpected from some one like him, really. I mean the guy broke a billion records and loved the sport more than anyone. Never missed a game, etc etc.

Who can blame him? It probably ticked him off to hear team mates yapping away about Madden all day while he was busy practicing.
