Ugh, been trying to get the first update all day. Put my PS3 in the DMZ on my network and everything. I keep getting "network server error" when I try to download it via HTTP, and get 0 peers when I try to download it with Bittorrent.

Did anybody download the Japanese demo w/ a Japanese ID has any luck getting in the server from US?
On their main page Konami said they are limiting players loggin in so the servers wouldn't crash, I've been trying for half an hour, no luck.
Just wanna make sure if they lock out ISP's other than Japan or not, so I don't have to keep on trying...

When it comes to the P2P just start the download and walk away. Eventually you will start downloading but if you sit and stare at it your impatience will only show. It works just give it time. If not come here and post about how it wont download after waiting 2min.

HMV shipped my order of GTA4 on Wednesday morning via Royal Mail Special Delivery (1-2days) so expecting that anytime now... I really want to play this beta but if GTA4 comes this morning, I'm done waiting for it. They've had their allocated week in my calendar and fucked it up as far as I'm concerned. I've left my PS3 on and ingame to seed for all you guys downloading via P2P though (I'm a nice guy, uploading at 87kbps atm) but as soon as I hear a knock at the door from the postman you know what's happening ^_^ GTA4 isn't a game you can just toss to the side, not even for a limited time beta. Sorry Konami.

I think the updates was to version 1.2, not 1.02. Though I could be wrong. Also the patch notes have an apology from Konami, which I thought was nice considering this is a beta and issues are always bound to happen.

I guess beta means "free game" to some people...

This is a way for them to test out what they're going to test out. They never expected so much traffic for the id sign up and they learned something new for that. You beta test to give feedback about your experience through bugs that may pop up or anything else that may hinder the flow of the game.

The http client update was very quick to download! Can't wait to test this game out.

i'm pretty sure the beta isn't... for the network, I bet they're doing this to see how their point system will work out.

They already played their game to death to the point they know the mechanics... they want feed back on how the online game works.

All the hassle isn't because it's a beta.... they just didn't expect it to be such a popular beta.

It just seems people are whining because they're not patient and let one bad experience trouble them.

And what the heck people are complaining about the update... the updates aren't 'pointless' .. they're necessary -- unless you want problems ... or not have other stuff opened in the game.

Alright this update is small so people really don't need to worry about 3 day downloads. As long as you get in while everyone is doing it instead of waiting you'll be good, after I completed the download I just left it going to keep uploading to others(Hitting around 50kbps) I guess I'll just let it go until tomorrow when I come home. It does suck that you can't go back to seed because that definitely would have helped with the first update, but if people just leave their systems running this will be such a painless update.

See, the thing that has been bugging the shit out of me is that if it is 24:00 on the 25th, that would be midnight tonight. How can a day have 3 12 o'clock hours?

If it was the end of tomorrow, they would've (if they were smart) said the 26th. I've never seen a clock in my life that still said the previous day when midnight rolled around and I've been working with 24-hour clocks for years now.

...Although immediately after writing that sentence an error occurred with the HTTP download and the peer-to-peer is blazing along at a nice is 0.6 Kb/s. We will all be saints when this is done.
