Wow, I'd completely forgotten about Harker. It seemed like it was going to be an interesting title too. I think it was GI that did a big preview of it and it really sounded like they were going to try something different. I especially liked that each vampire encounter was going to be memorable and that vampires wouldn't simply be disposable cannon fodder, but intelligent and crafty enemies.

Oh boo! I was looking forward to this, I was imagining a pseudo-sequel to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was already imagining being able to fight 4 or 5 vamps im a coherant manner, without resorting to button bashing :(

Well, this is the first I'm hearing of this Harker game. Oh well, here's to hoping that SH5 is good!

SH4 was a dissapointment imo. Of course, it wasn't originally supposed to be a SH game at all in the first place anyway. SH1-3 were good though!

On the other hand, I strongly suspect that many of the gameplay elements from harker will be put into the new Silent Hill. they aren't going to throw good mechanics away, and after all, there may be a reason why the game was retitled.

The fact that they're no longer calling it Silent Hill V doesn't give me hope. First Origins and now this, I'm not sure why Konami feels the need to farm Silent Hill out to western developers. The results from Origins weren't very good and this isn't looking so great either.

Apparently it's going to come out this fall, as least that's the word that's going around. My friend went to the first screening of "My Name Is Bruce" during the Ashland Independent Film Festival last year. I was so freaking jealous. I would've gone if I didn't have prior obligations.

Yeah, he does great voice over work ... and I understand either why he doesn't get more video game parts that aren't Ash from the Evil Dead series. A Brisco County game would be awesome, I'd definitely play it.

Yes, he is getting up there. He'll be 50 this June 22nd. I don't envision him getting more action roles. Then again, Harrison Ford is staring in a new Indiana Jones film and he's 65.

Was it the newly redesigned combat stuff that threw you off? That kinda bummed me out a little bit, as I thought that the clunky controls worked well for fighting & shooting because you usually played characters that didn't have combat experience. So it would make sense to have gimped controls, which brings the player closer to the level of the character. Then again, maybe it's just me that sees it that way.

@dead_red_eyes: The only real bone I had with Double Helix was what they said in the interview for SH5 though. If they do what they are intending to do in SH5, it'll be so far off from the original vision of the SH series that it's not going to be worthwhile to call it a SH game.

@enigma89: The Collective has somewhat proven themselves on home consoles. The original Buffy game for the xbox was excellent, Wrath Unleashed for the PS2 was a very entertaining game that was highly underrated, and their Indiana Jones game was... well, not awful. Pretty above average, actually, but nothing spectacular.

However, I was really looking forward to the Harker game. If there's one thing that the Collective apparently does very well, it's allowing one to virtually kick vampires into virtual submission. Sigh.

I suppose there would be less apprehension with this company if they had either a stellar track record or more experience with survival horror-type games. I can only imagine how many mouths would be salivating if the SH license went to, say, Frederick Raynal.

I was a little sceptical at first ... but when I heard that they impressed Konami enough to take over the series, well ... that made me change my mind. And for the fact that Akira Yamaoka is still onboard not only for soundtrack stuff, but as a semi-creative director ... well, it gives me even more hope. Sometimes it takes another persons perspective to bring life back into the series. Resident Evil 4 anyone?

I'll never understand why nobody expects something good of Silent Hill 5. Sure, it's a team that hasn't proved themselves on home consoles yet, but can you at least admit the game looks good so far? I'm not gonna play it because I'm a pussified baby, but I think that the Collective has enough since to not screw up a game that has a fan base like Silent Hill. However, I am slightly interested in kicking vampires now. If they do screw up Silent Hill, they should definitely finish this.
