Then I'm going to do as many comic pages as I can on Sunday for my project. Come Monday - going to Gamestop during the day to pick up my preorder copy of GTAIV. After that, I head up to my doctor's for a checkup to make sure my body's in good functional order - while reading the GTAIV manual.

Once the appointment's done, I'll stop by at the local grocer's, pick up some food and other necessities, then hike a mile to my home.

Once home, unpack groceries, stow 'em in the fridge und cabinets. Then, bound up the stairs to my room where my "original production run" Xbox 360 awaits to eat the GTAIV disc whole.

Note: Yes, it's an early Xbox 360 model, and it hasn't RROD on me. Because I painstakingly take good care of it. I pity the fools that don't put their 360's in ventilated spaces.

I'm playing through it now as part of my preparations for GTAIV but I just can't seem to enjoy it. The controls and those cars are making me punch brick walls (with my face). I mean your car spins around in circles when you hit someone on a bike, everything that touches your car makes it spin around. You have to chase people in cars but their cars subscribe to a different set of physical laws. Oh and then there's that thing where you can't revolve the camera around Tommy and the right analog stick goes into 1st person and ... ARGH!

If it weren't for the soothing melodies of Nena's 99 Luftballons and the knowledge that GTAIV is less than 7 days away I may have been driven on a homicidal killing spree long ago. ;) Just kidding, Jack.

Rented Viking: Battle for Asgard. It's ok, like action rpg-ish. Nice visuals, but not all that dynamic gameplay. Good button masher but tiresome. I agree with most reviews.

Been trying to get 100% on Burnout Paradise, can't wait for the new island(s) and patch. I have 40-50 cars so far! (I got it last week) =D

Before I started playing Dead Rising however, there was Sins of a Solar Empire. Strangely enticing mix of 4x and homeworld is strangely enticing.

RoN was better than I expected, and the fight scenes actually have me pretty excited for Bourne Conspiracy (I am the only one in my store whom has any interest for it). Crisis Core mixes really compelling story elements (high praise coming from a professed anti-fan of FFVII) mixed with gameplay that is at its best a chore.
Also found a little time for a smidgeon of MGS2 and the tail end of Twin Snakes.

1. Sandbox games are often fun just because of the stuff you can do, and no one stuffs extra crap in like Rockstar. They manage to pack so many things to do and places to go that I've often wondered how they made it under the size limit.
2. The soundtrack in the previous two games was great and really added to the experience you felt driving around in the city. It was the thing that finally immersed me in the world of the eighties or nineties.
3. The story is actually good when it doesn't need one at all. It's far from perfect, but I know many people would be happy just to be dropped into a city with some Uzis and free time, so it's really cool that they still care about it.
4. It's funny as hell. Sometimes juvenile, but often hilarious. Many detractors call GTA a murder simulator when it's really tounge in cheek the whole time. How can you see the billboards, hear the radio stations or meet some of the more bizarre characters and take it that seriously? How can you not crack a smile?
5. It's a real kick and good for laughs and lashings of the old ultraviolent.
The funny thing is... I'm actually not a huge GTA fan. I don't even own a PS2. I just like answering these pointless questions. So tell me: Why do you like what you like? Does it matter what we like then?

It's extremely hard, but I really like a lot of the twists it makes on the standard SRPG formula. If they had included a difficulty selector, I think it would be a lot easier for more people to understand. Still, I would really like to see more games use gameplay like this, but make it a tad more forgiving. Hell, I'd settle for Fire Emblem adapting the feature of giving your characters that you aren't bringing into battle something to do. It's not a huge feature, but it really does help and it rewards you for recruiting every character you can, even if you can't use them all in every battle.

Playing navigator/driver at the same time is challenging. The online is OODLES of fun, like a giant game of bumper cars. It reminds me of playing with matchbox cars as a kid; Trying to crash them into each other midair and just basically break them as much as I could. Fortunately, in burnout, your cars come back with a shiny new coat of paint everytime you crash.

My matchbox cars however did not have such a phoenix-like quality. They are in a landfill, most likely, covered in dirt and with missing wheels.

Wipeout Pulse - and with flying, missiles, quakes and stuff it's even better!

I tried You Have To Burn The Rope, but after the first keypress it would ignore everything so I couldn't get past the first jump. Then, I was using Opera 9 under MacOS 10.4.11 so I'll try it later on one of my PCs.

I started a game of Sakura Taisen, which I'd had laying around for months. Finally got around to starting it... then after about a half hour I quit without saving. Damn, games that fail the half hour test usually don't get picked up again. Surely it would have been good though.

One exception to this is Izuna. I played lots of Izuna on DS. I thought I should avoid the inn since it would cost "300 times the normal rate" and I was broke - so for the longest time I didn't save. GOOD DESIGN. But now I've done the jump in, grind, die, repeat cycle enough times to clear the first dungeon. If they expect that much grinding for the first level I don't see good things ahead for this game, but I really miss Roguelikes so I'm happily playing it for now.

Ouendan - sometimes it's just hard to leave that one on the shelf!

I never owned a PS1 or PS2 so it feels really nice as even if i got the 80gb with software emulation, i will check the sony page and check out some PS2 games too. Also, need to work HARDER to pay for the system or credit card company will be mad :P

Got it home stared charging it and was asleep before I even finished eating dinner.

I still believe that Warhawk is one of the bst teambased games available on console today. The new server layout is great too. I was against pro-servers at first until I played with a group of guys that rocked. We didn't win every match but we put up a helluva fight when we lost. Pro servers scream "Clan Combat" because auto swtich teams is turned off.

Some UT3 to try out the new UT2D game mode. It's pretty good but I wouldn't mind seeing a Metroid mod with that engine.

surprisingly (for me) I was able to get two hours of great online play out of SSBB and had a blast playing some of the later levels of Galaxy

Beats on PSP is god awful addictive especially when you put your favorite tracks in. Best 5 bucks I spent on a game in a long time if not ever.

Super StarDustHD with the addon and rumble is insane. Endless is the stuff of legend in terms of difficulty. Absolutely insane. Congrats to the number one guy on the leaderboards. Damn if you don't deserve it.

Spent some time with the Age of Conan PVP Weekend and I have to say it was really promising. The PVP minigames that was in this beta wasn't very polished, but the combat system is promising.

Other than that I worked some more on Lost Planet which I'm borrowing from a friend, and there was some hours of drunken 4player Mario Kart Wii and all the swearing about how crappy the wiimote is compared to the gamecube controller.

And yes, there was longing to gta4.

I was still entertained by San Andreas... it was just frustrating flying in the Harrier and having so little of the terrain drawn in front of me. Trees and building pop up with little warning. I hope IV improves on this, which I expect it to since the general area in IV is smaller than that of San Andreas.

I played SimCity 4 and Team Fortress 2. Oh, and some Rock Band, too.
