I have to admit, this looks like a major huge steaming pile of dung. Everyone's comments are pretty much spot on, and many had me LOL'ing :-)

Worst. "Combined Worlds" Idea. Ever.

Apparently there are absolutely no new ideas left. And i agree, whoever gave this the green light should have been instantly fired and potentially accosted. WTF?! I guess a perfect example of "money talks" and the willingness to destroy and/or whore out a franchise, ala Lucas with his Star Wars toothpaste etc.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a good idea. If you say it's crap then you just like seeing Mortal Kombat repeat itself over and over again. I bet half of you can't even tell me the whole Mortal Kombat storyline without confusing yourself in between Mortal Kombat 3, 4 and Trilogy. Or why Kung Lao is still alive and so many other things that seem to be a paradox in the Mortal Kombat world. If you like repeated games then you all can stick to MK:A i'll be happy to see Sub-Zero and Batman beat the snot outta each other. Yeah I agree with LittleBigPlaneteer... true, DC characters are so wholesome that they would never kill anyone, but blending them with MK characters might be the edge they need to show people that the Justice League arent a bunch of wimps. The only thing that I'm worried about it how overpowered the MK universe will be. I mean as far a raw power is concerned, Batman is the weakest of the league (at least the current JL), but he's an awesome fighter so he fits in well. Against the others??? Well, let's not even look at Superman, Wonder Woman and the big guns, but lets say...the Flash. He'd knock just about every MK character out before they could recept that he's even moved! Will be interesting to see how they deal with it.

@Balius: I was thinking about that as well... Very good point. To have someone as overpowered as that in a fighting game is a bad call from the start, toning him down only makes it worse. If they have any sense at all, they shouldn't make him a selectable character, but instead something like an asset for, say, an environmental effect or a finishing move for good guys. Then have an equally powerful villain character to fulfill that role for the bad guys. It's like having the "heroes" feature in Star Wars Battlefront II.

Seriously, the DC rogues gallery is pretty lame, all told. Even the GOOD villains are plotters, and wouldn't fit well into a fighting game. DC overpowers all their heroes (except Aquaman) and pits them against villains who don't really stand a chance, or who are only around because they're visually interesting.

Think about Superman in Mortal Kombat. In the comics, he's invulnerable. That makes for a terrible game, remove that power. He's strong enough to hurl planets around. That makes for a terrible game, remove that power. He can move faster than time. That makes for a terrible game, remove that power. His eye lasers can cut through anything. That makes for a terrible game, remove that power. His freeze breath can change climates. That makes for a terrible game, remove that power. He can fly high in the air effortlessly. That makes for a terrible game, remove that power.

The BEST you can hope for is a character in the MK universe who looks and dresses like Superman, hovers, and zaps from his eyes for about as much damage as the Batman character's punches do.

It's necessary for balance that no character completely outclass another. Sure, tiers may eventually arise, but an invulnerable guy covering the whole screen in apocalyptic lasers from miles above the ring would just annoy FAQ writers.

I didn't think there'd be so much hate for this...seriously, I had to change my pants after seeing that promo image of Batman and Sub-Zero. The idea is SO badass...I'm just worried about the execution.

The only MK games I ever spent any real time with were the first three, and I LOVE this franchise and the characters (although from what I've read it's been ruined by the more recent games *sad face*).

But isn't it the over-the-top gore and violence that has defined the series? The only way I think they can rectify this is by making it good. And I mean really, really good. I'm gonna stay hopeful that this doesn't get fucked up.

I just can't get over this. This is awful. Second worst fighting game universe ever if you count all the REALLY crappy fighting games that never had a sequel as the worst fighting game universe (but Biofreaks was fun, at least better than Mortal Kombat fun (enough with changing all the C's to K's already too, so lame)).

Told some of my friends about this, one being a Batman fanboy. They all thought this was the worst idea ever.

Midway, what happened to the new Mortal Kombat game that was supposed to start fresh? This, this is not that game. I hope a separate team is working on this and the real MK team is working on something more worthwhile.

The inclusion of the DC Universe only makes things more interesting. One thing I have to commend Midway for is taking risks by introducing far fetched ideas. The gaming world's outcry is expected, but this only gives Midway a bigger opportunity to prove they have some ingenuity up their sleeves. If they can pull this off and have gamers thinking, "You know, that turned out pretty cool after all," then props to them. Otherwise it'll be proof that the MK franchise really has nowhere else to go.

I am just gonna say this and be done with it.

Batman would be the most awesome guest character that any fighting game (or video game in general) could have.

Better than Spawn, Link, Heiachi, Vader, Yoda, the Burger King, whatever...

But MK vs DC is one of those things that lets you know that the whole mash-up idea has reached a point where it is no longer about letting fans have what they want. It is now just about whoever they can throw in together for whatever pittance of financial success they can hope to attain.

So lets just all agree that this was a bad idea, and move on. Ask Midawy to slowly back away from the DC universe, and step out of the room.

This looks so retarded. It's an obviously knock-off of the Marvel vs Capcom series. But the biggest difference is that Capcom actually made good fighting games.
Secondly, they're ruining the DC characters with this. MK is all about the blood and violence, Batman is against killing and so are just about all the other popular DC characters.

DC has three of the top ten most recognizable characters in the world.
Marvel only has one with Spider-Man.

Somehow I think that makes them prevalent.

As for this game, I don't care all that much about it. The fighting in every one of these games has never been that good, and no fatalites takes out the one thing that would really make it worth seeing as far as I am concerned.

Still, I hope it does well. Maybe then we'll get an actual DC fighting game (without Mortal Kombat) that will be worth playing.

Anyway, I really don't care about the lack of fatalities. I don't really have much fond memories of MK that are at risk of being destroyed over this. The combat looked ok though. The throwing looked cool, but I have to dock it due to lack of batarang. Seriously, he's Batman. The first thing you should show of him is his gadgets. Terrible. One of the things that made Marvel vs Capcom so cool is that the characters looked great in many cases better than any other animated representation. then there were the crazy teamups like Strider Hiryu with Wolverine and Cable as the new Xmen trio, Or the heavy metal squad with Ironman Sentinal and MegaMan, or the Velvetta and Cheddar team Juggernaut, Sentinal and Cable...not to mention the awesome over the top gameplay and combo system.

MK has never been the best animated or designed fighter..in 2D or 3D and DC characters are okay, but aren't as significant unless handled by a great design group...suckage.

If they're smart, they'll keep to street level fighters only. Superman just doesn't fit into this.
