It seems too far from April Fools day for this to be a prank, although this could be some sort of pre 4/20 pot addled prank that Midway thought would be funny. This is a pretty big reach. Marvel vs Capcom = Awesome.... MK has been pretty stale on its own and I agree with many other posters that have said that throwing in the Dark Knight isn't going to make MK any better. For cryin out loud they made Liu Kang a zombie in the last one.. wtf?!?!? I still will not believe this till I see some sort of official screens or footage

Luke, did you even play Mortal Kombat: Deception? That is a "REALLY good", not "decent" MK game. Granted it's not as awesome as my all-time favorite MK game, MK2, BUT it will do. Sure, the campaign didn't win any awards, but the online portion was freakin' awesome and get this... "lag free" for the most part.

So when you say "there hasn't been a decent Mortal Kombat game in over ten years", I think that is just kidding yourself.

Anyways, my rant for the day.

Wii was a word in it, I doubt this will be the SAME MK game they have been going out about since last year - which is more brutal and relasstic and uses the Unreal engine.

They said the new game would be gritty and dark (like the DC world is) but also inspired Gears of War - which DID feature blood and lots of death...

Damn, i'm a huge MK fan and hope this DC crossover isn't the ONLY new MK game out this year! :o(

Well,this is different. Part of me hopes this is fake. I love mk and some of DC, but I can't see them together. The franchise of MK is built around killing right? So certain characters would be in an odd position. I mean seriously, when Wonder Woman killed a guy years back the whole JLA were upset about it for a long time. So how'd that work in game? Complete removal of fatalities is not an option, people for instance got upset about the lack of Fatalities in DA. Plus, someone brought up the point of Batman's no killing rule.

If if was DC vs SNK or SF or even Tekken, that wouldn't be so weird to me. For me it's not the worlds of the characters colliding; comics always have alternate reality scenarios so they could write a plausible situation. The issue for me is the whole Fatality aspect and how it'd make for a weird outcome. I'm babbling but I just think it will come off strange.

Confirming that its true. They also make a very very interesting claim, that this game is for younger audiences, so, no fatalities and decapations which would put this collaboration into work since the obvious imposing factor was DC+Gore=Not Happening.
They also impose the thought that the "true" MK8 would be a more grown up version geared towards their normal audience. [i.e. fatalities and whatnot]

Mortal Kombat games are only good now a days for gratuitous violence, and this one doesn't even have that.

Forget for a second that this is supposed to have DC in it. This is a Mortal Kombat game, the series that practically invented controversy in games, without the violence.

This is like loading up a DOA game only to find all the girl fighters have been replaced by hyper realistic drawings of Louie Anderson in bikinis.

Note that the IP for the site is 208.58.149.2.....which also happens to be the same IP listed for the website for fellow Midway games Touchmaster and TNA Impact. The IP for Midway's home site is 208.58.149.3. This seems 100% legit to me based on that.

Well, let's just look at it this way:

Most Capcom games? Pretty good.
Most Marvel games? Well, not so much, but better than most other comics-based games. Ultimate Alliance was good times.

Most Mortal Kombat games? Pretty bad.
Most DC games? Also pretty bad.

Marvel + Capcom = Awesomeness!
MK + DC = Hard to say, but don't get your hopes up, people...

The Mortal Kombat series could really use an immediate infusion of awesome...but I'm not sure if this is it.

MK is dead. SC is adding Yoda, proving that they have absolutely zero idea what it is that the market really wants out of an SC4.

King of Fighters and Street Fighter appear to be the only sane people left in the room; MK wants to wear tights and SC wants force push boobies.

I just find it so hard to get excited about what amounts to some marketing man's wet dream. Chocolate and peanut butter work perfectly well, sure, but on the other hand, if I find blood in my stool I go to a doctor, I don't fish it out of the toilet and put it on show.

Games do tend to take liberties. There was a god-awful Justice League fighting game for the SNES that potentially pit Superman vs. Batman. I don't see why Superman can't take on some of the ridiculous characters in the MK franchise.

Hell, if Voldo can get stabbed by a lightsaber 20 times and live to tell about it, I don't see why Superman is getting so much flack about being in a fighter.

I don't see this being much different. Don't care much about DC (or comics in general). And fighting games... I need more casual fighting. Like Smash Bros. That's all I need.

I'm not too sure that I believe this, but I really hope it's true. I'll admit that recent Mortal Kombat games have pretty much sucked(I thought Deception was good though), but I grew up on Mortal Kombat games and Batman is my favorite super hero. Not only that, but recently I've gotten into watching reruns of Justice League on Youtube. So this game will be awesome for so many reasons, if it's real.

If the mortal characters can fight Raiden, who is an immortal god, then I don't see why they can't fight Superman.

Not a decent MK game in over ten years? Did you ever play Shaolin Monks? Sure it's gameplay was a tad repetitive at times, but it's fighting engine was solid. By far one of better action beat em' ups to be release in the last three years. Much better than the last two MK titles.

You're 100% right. You can't decapitate Batman. It won't happen. I love this idea. I love it a lot. Of course, I'd love it a lot more if it was a half way decent fighting game built around the cross over, rather than Mortal Kombat. But it's still cool, and I'll still buy it. But it isn't real.

@MarshmallowMark: i will second your shenanigans call out. none (well, almost none) of the things done to eachother in mortal kombat could/would be done to a charater from the DC universe (there are exeptions, but i won't get into that). either way though, that icture would make one hell of a cover art for a new cross over comic...

I don't think this will play well with the fighting style of MK. If it were along the lines of MvC2 then yes, but I just might bite.

ALso if no one has seen this it's the new batman that's going to be the prequel to the Dark Knight

I don't think MK would do crossovers well. I can't imagine ripping Batman's head off, or cutting the Flash's throat as Baraka.

My only question is how will DC ever let this fly? DC comics, for the most part, have never been gory. I can't imagine they would EVER let Batman be decapitated, let alone by a character whose not even of their stable.
