@BStu: Yeah, I was shocked as shit to see Orange Crush on there. R.E.M. is my favorite band. I got 89% on Orange Crush on Expert on my first try, the first time my wife left the house (and I don't sing, ESPECIALLY in front of people).

I also got 100% on Easy on my first try (guitar) but that's no big surprise really since I can play about 100 R.E.M. songs on the guitar (literally.....I counted once).

I probably won't buy any of these (maybe The Cars, but I won't be nearly as excited about it).

Seems like a bit of a buzzkill to announce two popular albums and then say nothing for almost a year and then bait and switch. They really should have made those the first two (we have been waiting!) and then follow it up with these other albums.

Or, if there's a technical or licensing reason why they aren't going to release them, just say so. Instead of leading us on like this for so long only to put out something else entirely.

and to be honest, as much as nevermind will be fun to play, i'm much more ecstatic about doolittle.

and i think the pricing is more than fair. a lot more goes into getting these tracks rock band ready than goes into making a track available on itunes. if i have to pay a little more to have fun jamming out to some rockin' tracks with three of my friends, then so be it.

Not a moan about people complaining about the dollar price though, if you feel $15 is too much then all power to you. Here in the UK iTunes albums are generally £7.99 ($15) so if the price isn't increased for Europe (hahahahahaha, as if!) then we'd be paying about the same as we would for the album from Apple.

If Harmonix offered a way of getting the tracks as DRM-free mp3s I'd probably pay a fair bit more. Of course, any songs I'm desperate to play on Rock Band I probably already own, so it may not be worth their effort to get record companies to agree to that sort of offer.

For everyone that is saying that they should get the MP3 for free, I don't think that's going to happen and its not Harmonix fault. The labels ARE NOT going to do that. They are VERY tight about what you can do with the music you get from them without paying large fees. Hell, iTunes may have the mp3's for cheaper but that's because Apple has a standard and a pretty good hold on the distribution channel and they have to follow it if they want to sell more albums. But I'm sure they would charge if they could.

It would be nice to have a copy that could be copied to, and played only on your console. However, it would have to be in Harmonix's best interest financially to pay for that ability. The other issue would then be: do they give you a straight iTunes/CD copy or do they give you a nice remastered copy. They have their hands on the masters of these old tracks which means they could potentially deliver quality that is better than what you would get on iTunes. There are so many business decisions that would need to be made and figured out to make that happen.

This would likely explain the "downtime" with the last few week's worth of DLC (Still Alive and HMX pack), as they likely were working their butts off to get these three albums lined up and ready to go.

Will be interesting to see if they implement anything new in-game to allow players to quickly play through an album. Or if they update the game to make the DLC section of Career Mode more managable.

Even though I love the album, I'm not going to pay $15 to get all the songs because I would essentially be playing most of them by myself. Not all my friends have seen the light of Priest, although they would play Priest singles.

When cds started creeping over the $13 mark was the time I stopped going to record stores. I can remember seeing non-import cds by the big artists listing at $19.99. With pricing like that its no wonder people started downloading music for free. And as more people stopped buying records, the music industry kept the overpriced cd model and sales have been plummeting ever since.

I have read that alot of artists view games like Rock Band & Guitar Hero as a one of the big revenue streams for the future. But if they continue with the old pricing model, they will continue to alienate the consumers who know they can get the same music cheaper from other places or they can even get it at the fantastic price known as FREE.

Companies are out to make money, but if they continue to treat their target market like suckers, "illegal" file sharing will continue to be the number one choice for getting new music for many.

If they start making these Album packs so you can transfer the song from your console's hard drive to your computer as an MP3... I'll start buying them. They're going to really have to get lucky and release at least one of my all-time favorite albums if they want me to spend that much on it. I don't know if they'll ever hit the nail on the head for me, but the 3 albums they've announced so far aren't exciting enough for me to spend 15 bucks on.

Ever since I heard Wave of Mutilation (a great but WAY too short song) was the Pixies song that made it into Rockband, I'd been pissing and griping at my friends in a revolting display of "college musician". I've ruined no fewer than five Band hangouts with complaints like "the guitar and vocals in Debaser shame this song!" and "Here Comes Your Man is easily the best song on the album. Why'd this cock-tease make it!?" Now that I'm getting the whole CD I find myself in an existential crisis. What will I complain about now!?
