Wow, what interesting news. I've been living under a bizarre education based rock so I must have missed all this until now. I really hope that they learn from their mistakes. The interactivity and choices can make or break this game, I really hope it's a significantly large part of a game, not just a hyped feature that only comes into play for a few scenarios. Multiple endings and branching paths would be excellent. I also hope the roster is amazing. :)

I've always preferred the comic tie-in Spidey games that have come out since the PSone over the movie tie-ins.. I'm hoping this one will be Treyarch's return to form, but I'm a little wary since it's coming this Fall and this is the first major details we've heard about it.

I actually liked the Spider-man 3 game for the most part. Pretty fun. Friend or Foe was... dear God... ugh. But here are the pros and cons:
Cons: Treyarch, Activision, obvious license cash-in, system whoring
Pros: ...yet it has a really interesting premise and interesting gameplay.

So I'm keeping an eye on it. Since Spider-man games are very hit or miss so I'm not sure what to expect.

Spidey 2: The Movie: The Game... The thing... is one of my favorite games. I loved the controls, too bad they completely dumbed it down for Ultimate and Spidey 3 was crap as well.

It looks like maybe the aliens from Venom's home planet have invaded, that would be cool.

Hopefully they expand on the gameplay elements of Ultimate Spider-Man, just without the gang gauntlets and bring back two handed swinging.

It looks like Ryoichi Ikegami did that drawing. He is famous for "Crying Freeman" and also did the Spider-Man manga(the actual Japanese one, not the American Mangaverse crap).

Spider Man 2 was a fun game to move around in. Playing, you actually felt like you were controlling Spider-man. It had its problems (repetition, no difficulty curve, poor bosses, poor interior camerawork) but the the webslinging was fun.

Fix what's broken in Spider-man 2, and the sequel could be tons of fun.

Ultimate Spider-Man broke the webslinging. He uses one hand, and jumps between swings. It's ridiculous. And the Venom scenes are just plain bad. Venom plays like the Incredible Hulk on an off-day. Much of that comes from the Ultimate version of Venom being an incredible clod.

I never bothered with 3 so I wouldn't know how that was. Still had fun with Ultimate though...

As for the game I'm all for the last sentence Fahey wrote: "Darker is better." Anytime a normally 'castrated' videogame breaks free of those who would pacify it--it becomes a great thing. (Usually.)

This kinda brings to mind kind of a silent hill/parasite eve feeling about the game where the town is overrun by some form of evil.

Though I'm not a big fan of 'choice' games, as no system is complex and dynamic enough to handle every choice you make affecting the ending in a specific way, I do believe that choices which open and close doors to partners is always fun.

Sounds decent so far, we'll have to wait on more news.

@Hauler: Remember though, the problem with Spider-man 3 (And Spider-man 2 for that matter) is that it was a movie-based game. So, as always, it's development time was severely restricted.

This one isn't tied to any movie, which means (Hopefully) they can take all the time they need to make it awesome.
