I've been managing video game retail stores for 10 years. A game that says, "NOT FOR RESALE" on the back cannot be shrink wrapped or boxed up and sold as a new game.

They DEFINITELY CAN can be bought into the used game inventory and sold as a used game.

That is not correct, I work at GameStop (yes i know everyone here hates my company) and we do take games marked as not for resale in for trade. The only limitations on this have recently been revoked were that if you say traded in guitar hero for the wii you had to give the guitar with the game cause there were no 3rd party controllers and they didn't sell by themselves. However, now that there are quite a few options you can trade the games in alone or with the guitar for varying credit.

so yes used game stores WILL take them.

I do wish it was something more interesting, though. Heck, I'd almost prefer getting that silver SG that's presumably in the wired version, but I don't need to have three PS2 guitars. Though, maybe I could sell the spare or something.

In an effort to please the ScoreHero crowd, they've upped the difficulty.

At one point you'll boss battle w/ Joe Perry. And there's a power he has (not a power-up...just a power) that allows him to actually turn off your guitar controller and pop-out the batteries mid song.

If you're using a wired controller, he just switches the ports that the game is reading....to those of another 360, at random.

And that's just an Easy. Once you get into Medium he'll just send a single through the TV that makes our brain explode.

You get 10 Gamerscore if you beat him on Expert. Without missing a note. While blindfolded.

....

I hate boss battles.

Yes, I know what these words mean and I am standing by what I said. But to say it is not good as a fact and not an opinion shows ignorance. Saying you wished it didn't exist is putting the spotlight on you and nobody else but you. Are you one of those people who can't turn off their own radio or change the channel on your television and think it is the responsibility of the world to agree with your opinions or not exist at all? I don't like hot peppers but I just don't eat them. Seems pointless and self destructive to want something to cease to exist that you don't like. Don't buy it, don't like it, that is the power a person has in the domain of their own life. And there are still people alive who think rock and roll isn't culture, and a lot of people who don't think games are culture. Culture isn't defined by its moral validity or personal opinions of a few. It is defined by its social impact. And hip hop has had that. I can't stand 50 cent but I don't determine what albums top the charts. It is culture, as I'm sure a lot of things both you and I don't like are. I just don't wish things I don't like out of existence.

I don't particularly like rap/hiphop myself (actually, I can't stand most of it), but cmon guys, be realistic here. hiphop WAS going to happen anyway, and Aerosmith was on a steep downslope in the early 80s. It's much more likely that RunDMC saved Aerosmith from being lost and forgotten, rather than the other way around.

I get what you are saying about hating a genre of music so much that you wish it wouldn't exist is a fairly stupid thing to do. I was just pointing out that saying Areosmith single-handedly gave rap a push into the spotlight was pretty silly since it was really already there. I don't particularly like Areosmith, perhaps just because I've heard Aerosmith songs about eleventy billion times. Same basic reason I don't like the Beatles. (If I have to listen to yellow submarine one more time I might just snap... *twitches*) But just because I don't like those bands doesn't mean that folks who do have a bad taste in music and it's too bad so many folks think their opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to music. Heck, just look at the general tone of some of the posts above!

Not a big Areosmith fan, so this won't be my particular brand of vodka. But to each their own! I think focusing on a handful of bands rather than one band might have been safer, but I suppose the only bands (if you are picking just one) that could POSSIBLY have a bigger following (in no particular order) would be the Stones, the Beatles, Rush or KISS. I suppose Pearl Jam/Metallica/Nirvana/etc fans might be bigger then some of those bands in the normal videogame demographic ages, but I'm just guessing.

@JRONJR: There were a few big Rap/Hip Hop hits before Aerosmith sang that song with Run-D.M.C. as well, so it it's like Areosmith singlehandedly put Rap in the limelight.

And yes, there are some great non AS songs. All the Young Dudes by Mott the Hoople is on there. I've always loved that song, long before Juno resurrected it. That alone to me almost makes it worth it. Plus I want a second guitar before the Christmas season when GH4 comes out. This really isn't that bad of a deal for people in my position.

All the Aerosmith songs that have appeared in either Guitar Hero or Rock Band just aren't fun to play (obviously just my opinion). A whole game of (mostly?) Aerosmith sounds truly awful.

It'll most definitely be my first ever non-purchase in the Guitar Hero franchise. A Van Halen edition might get some money from me, though (only if they take out the boss-battles mechanic, though).

I, for one, love them. They're THE one band that caught my attention when I was 8 or so, and initiated me in the world of rock and roll, and to them I owe much of my current hobbies (playing in an actual rock band included). They're no longer my #1 band, but easily take a spot in the top 5.

Now, I agree it might sound strange that they are the first choice for a band-centered Guitar Hero game, and that bands such as Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or maybe even Metallica might sound like more natural choices. Still, hear me out:

Aerosmith has always been very open to new medias, videogames included. They've starred at least two games that I know of, (one of them being a guitar game, incidentally). Add to that their versatile repertoire that goes from blooze-rock to heavy-hitters to power ballads, their ability to mix things up with hip-hop beats and orchestral scores, and their continuous popularity, plus the fact that they have perhaps one of the most recognizable lead guitarists in activity, and the choice becomes much more understandable.

So, naturally, I'm gonna love it, I better own it, I'm gonna love it, and God knows it...

That said, I'm not too keen on this faceplate. I'd rather have a smaller band logo off to the side, where it's not cropped or obscured by the guitar's parts. Easy enough to fix by slapping on a custom Aero decal on a vanilla faceplate.

I suspect that this will do pretty well. Aerosmith has been around a long time and has a big following. After we saw this was coming out, some friends and I had an entire dinner conversation about what bands could actually make good Guitar Hero expansions. Other than Aerosmith, we came up with Van Halen, Rolling Stones and (perhaps) Metallica. You need a band with 1) an extensive well-known catalog and 2) with a large following over decades, and not many bands can do that. The Grateful Dead for example meet category 2, but not 1. Can anyone else think of bands that could do well on their own Guitar Hero expansions?

I LIKE Aerosmith, I don't love them. I have a feeling this is going to fail horribly. I just don't feel like playing a bunch of Aerosmith songs, plain and simple. I know there are supposedly other songs that inspired them, but still. I like having the mix-up and being able to play different genres in a sitting. I really just don't get where they are coming from on this one. I think this will sell less then any of the other guitar heroes, maybe even Guitar Hero DS.

Having a guitar bundle actually makes this a more likely purchase. I need another guitar. Then again, I might just buy two of those third party guitars that work for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero, sell my Guitar Hero controller, and finally cave in and buy Rock Band and a drum set.
