I updated and everything seems good. The pictures are loading up but only after about 30-45 seconds of not doing anything with my controller. But everything is there and looks good as long as you don't mind waiting a "few" seconds to let everything load up per page change. lol

Absolutely a fan. I know I'm paying $40 for a glorified demo and cannot wait to do so.

Honestly, I've been needing something to fill that empty gap in my "need to race" library... shooters are well covered, but after playing GTHD and the Prologue demo, I couldn't go back to playing GT4, and neither GTHD or the Prologue demo sate the need either.

I'm just glad to hear this is more an appetizer and not so much a morsel.

I'm also stoked that damage modeling could come as early as fall...

if your having problems viewing the pictures: Go to your Internet Broswer and delete all of your caches, and cookies and it did the trick for mine. I can see all the pictures on the store now.

2.3 firmware still does not add a permanent option for BluRay Internet prefs for "never connect". I actually wrote a letter to the BBB about this it's ticking me off so badly.

Confirm or always allow is so not a full set of options.

@Evil J: Well you seem to be a fan of the series so you can't go wrong and have a lot to look forward to. It's really, really nice gameplay (sans the missing damage model). Looks amazing too, and sounds it, with DD5.1 :)

Holy shit this firmware updates was the most awesome yet. I love the new store. And that Lair downloadable pack for free, unlocking the dragons, rumble AND analog support? Fuckin' Ace mate. Already played it. I can't believe I'm praising Lair here but it really is good with this update. Now they only need to fix these image errors so the store gets usable. Love the makeover though.

@enewtabie: Yeah, I tried that Lair patch out, and I would highly recommend if anyone passed it up before, either pick up a used copy, or rent the bastard again, because it's totally (awesomely) bearable and fun now. I liked the Sixaxis crap for some reason (call me...'insane'?) but with options of sticks AND rumble, the story and graphics (which are also improved, at least some of the frame rates are) are worth seeing.

I checked it out at 11ish PST last night, and yes, it did have the 'broken images' thumbnail for most if not all of the pictures on the store. I checked it at 830 PST this morning, and like its been said, most, if not all, of the thumbnails now do have their correct image.

The store interface has been greatly updated, which I really like. But the best update they've done has been to make the store respond much much faster. Great job thus far Sony!

Oh, and btw, just as an update, I posted a couple times over the span of last night, but as of 12pm central time for me, the store is completely operational, the images still load up everytime I go in, but in every category I go into it only takes roughly 4-6 seconds to load all the images for the content, which is damn fine. It looks good and is extremely easy to use!

The screens were loading faster for me. The pictures were hit or miss, some screens took some time for the pictures and some didn't load at all. The store itself is definitely faster and a lot nicer. I really like it. Plus the downloads seemed to be working faster for me too, maybe it's just my connection. I'm totally digging the new store though. Good work Sony, now just get the pictures to load.

The images take a while to download and then they are stored permanently on your PS3 so you don't have to download them each time.Just be patient as your PS3 gets all these new asset images. The store looks and feels great but it's a bummer they couldn't release the content from the past two weeks yesterday and then update the store with newer stuff this thursday.

I gave it a try this morning before leaving to work at around 7:30am eastern and most of the pictures loaded right away, the ones that didnt popped up a minute or two after.

There really is no problem with the store itself, the store just needs to cache all the icons that could take a few minutes. You also need to be on the page for it to download the icons for that page.

Think of it this way, its like when you open (in windows or Mac OSX) a folder packed with images, the preview icons take while to appear, and thats with the images being in your hard drive. Now imagine if those images were on a server somewhere else.

The heading of this post is at best misleading, its just flame bait....shame on you Kotaku, I though you would be beyond that.

Pictures are loading for me. Extremely slow though. This is because of all the traffic on the store. I hope there's a cache that downloads icons you've already seen. Anyway, too many people are on the Store so right now, it's understandable. The server could also be working on some last minute changes. I love the UI btw.

I can confirm the images are loading, but a little slower than you'd expect them too - I didn't get the Broken Image placeholder that Mr C. did in the original post until i looked around a bit.

In new releases, everything currently has an image, but Turok Multiplayer Map Pack.

I'm guessing they're just uploading them to the server now or something

Either ways, new store is heads above the old one, just in terms of response and feel. Good job thus far

downloaded it this morning, love the interface, very quick and easy to use. Also the majority of the images loaded fine for me, a few had problems, the preview feature also seems to be missing at the moment.

That's for feedback,stats,etc

@Bunta: I'm a little confused by your comment. What should have been 'fixed a while ago'? The store was functional before; it's only been streamlined for the sake of user-friendliness as per request. Half a year after launch is on the short side, in the long haul--particularly when it didn't need to be done.

And if your only system is the PlayStation 3, why are you surprised the content update is happening on Thursday? Especially after it was sort of mentioned already.

These 'dropping the ball' comments are reaching farther and farther each time...

Design-wise I have a hard time thinking of anything more I could have asked for right now. I just hope the images and descriptions load a lot faster on a regular day because right now (3:22am) they load like ass.

I have a PS3 and I love it, but Sony keeps dropping the ball. This weeks update better be massive. I mean, they couldn't at least give us all the updates we missed while they "fixed" a problem they should have fixed a while ago?

I mean, the COD4 maps and the Rock Band Songs should have been put up in the very least. I don't own an Xbox or a 360, but at least they are getting stuff on time, and way ahead of PS3 continually.

i do believe that the files load the first time you view them, then they are stored on your harddrive, and new items will download as they are added to the store.

overall, i really like it.. it really does make the experience more seemless.

i admit that the first-time-loading thing is a bit of a drag though, why couldn't they all just load during the update?

The images are really slow to appear at first. After that however, they pop up instantly. I think it's because you're loading them for the first time, but it might have to do with position as well...which means on Thursday we might have to go through this all over again.

I went through every item to find the previews and I found that Crash Bandicoot 2's preview is actually screenshots of a different game. It's a dice game with a devil on top of them. At first I thought it was No One Can Stop Mr. Domino (and I would have gotten excited if the PS Store is getting that), but it's a game that was actually on the PS2 that I played briefly. Oh, and I tested my other accounts they both work beautifully (though I've only ever found 2 things on the Brit store that weren't on the US store) and the Japanese store is still arranged funny... I went through the list of PS1 games, and HOLY CRAP... MGS, RE1 and 2, and a page full of RPGs apparently... Oh, and the MSX collections 1 and 2... Too bad neither one has Metal Gear on it.

Everything working fine for me. The images took a short while to load at first, now everything is running smoothly.

I'm downloading the Lair update as I type this. I've got to say that the store redesign is really top-notch.

It's definitely getting steadily better, and I'm sure that they probably released it at the end of the night to make sure it was fully updated and ready for the morning. Most of the problems I was having are progressively fixing themselves one by one, and I'm noticing it's getting better by 10% or so every half hour. We'll just have to see how it looks tomorrow, or even better, by Thursday, for the *full* update.

But yeah, for me it's working, if I search really hard I can still find broken picture links, but the stuff that I've seen load still loads quickly after I leave and come back in. It is seemingly faster than Live to me, mainly because even with the off load times for the images, the content is already there and you can select it. It's interesting to see it look this good, though. I'm almost entranced....

As for the Store, I went into my Hong Kong account and the pictures seem to be coming up fine there. I got a few broken images but most of them popped up. Although it did seem to take about 10 to 20 seconds for them all populate.

I cleared my cache and cookies several times but still getting broken images in the English version of the Store. Maybe rebooting will help? Works for Windows.

Other than that, though, the update is excellent. I think it's a bit harsh to call it "broken" just because the thumbnails aren't loading consistently. Hundreds of people are going to read just the headline and think that the whole update isn't working.

I had to delete my internet cache but it's still very slow loading images. The majority of them load but it takes usually over 30 seconds for them to load so at first you are unsure what's going to happen. I have a 60gb btw.

Goto your internet browser on the PS3 and delete your old cache under the tool box. The Pictures that is trying to read are gone due to the new store wiping your old cache.

My pictures loaded at first and then they didn't when Iwent to other areas. I managed to get the solo add-on for Super Stardust(which is great) but none of the pictures were loading after I finished playing so I shut the system down. I figured they were still making changes so no big deal. Much better than the previous store and I didn't really have a problem with it, really fast and easy to navigate. Hopefully there are a lot of good things on the Thursday update(besides GT5:P

Yeah, I'm not seeing any pictures either, but I think the reason none are loading is because the update isn't technically live until tomorrow anyways, so all of us early birds are getting it early.

If we get to noon tomorrow and they're still not working...then people have a right to bitch.
