		    <description><![CDATA[<p>I was just wandering the streets of the Imperial City a few minutes ago, so I can really tell the difference.  It's absolutely beautiful.  Combined with the music, it felt like one of the better/best moments in the LOTR movies.</p>
<p>It's a shame, if I only had a few extra hundred dollars (and i mean only a few) I could bring my PC up to Crysis spec.  Alas, I don't have any spare money atm.</p> <p>eskilla</p>]]></description>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>Cryengine 2 is phenomenal (not just the graphics either) I've dabbled in sandbox and was continually blown away with my mind racing at the posibilites for the engine. Crysis ran at HIGH quality ~ 35fps on my pc @ 1440x900 res (native monitor res) and looked superb.It's physics and general well thought out control/interaction are what really draws you in though.</p>
<p>TO have that in Oblivion style games would be great but I think it wouldn't be the best use of the engine as oblivion is less tactile/more plodding. The greatness comes from teh FEEL of the engine rather than just the look, diving into grass, crawling through the shadows, using the nanosuit to do crazy stuff, creating your own epic events in real time through chaos/random events - it's stunning frankly. Oblivion type games wouldn't quite pull that off, they are more linear in character movement/interaction. I think while games could look stunning in Cryengine2 it would mainly be about the interaction it affords (that most people who've not played it just won't get - they assume it's just graphics) and for that it's mostly going to be First person shooters i'm afraid.</p>
<p>Crysis is still one of the most dynamic/exciting titles i've ever played on any format and i'm glad they pushed things how they did even if they had to restrain themselves to a 'typical' FPS game as the premise.</p> <p>Sharpfish</p>]]></description>

And it DOES make me wonder what would happen if all developers would just pool their resources and start creating games only. Because, strictly and probably naively speaking, there's only one 3D engine necessary, for example, the best. <br>
And then gamecreators could be creating games, without them having to make a graphically believable world (save for the design of course) because it's already perfectly possible in an engine OTHER people made.<br>

<p>Of course, the Shivering Isles expansion dealt with that complaint pretty deftly though; it's gorgeous. In terms of fantasy design, it's up there with Morrowind.</p>

Especailly for trying to view detailed graphics. And also if I really wanted to view real life, I could just go outside. As for Oblivion, I'm ashamed to say that I played quite a bit of it (circa 100 hours) but hardly scratched the main quest (got Martin to the fortress, and then went off to some temple to look for a book or something) or many of the Guild missions.  The autoleveling enemies stymied me for a while, till I revisited it with some mods.  Keep meaning to go back, though.</p> <p>Papageno</p>]]></description>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>@<a href="#c5192754">Mr Fortitude</a>: @<a href="#c5192971">okenny :)</a>: There's a reason why I have piles of screenshots in my Oblivion folder. :)  Even with my computer's state being so-so and my video card being probably JUUUUST strong enough to make the game work, I still sat around and was totally in love with the game.  I've got pictures ranging from hilarious/epic kills (an arrow through an imp's thigh, through its back, out the top of the chest and up under its jaw), a "Mexican Standoff" with myself and an NPC with bows drawn at arms' length from each other, and two Imperial Legion Foresters fighting, to scenery shots, including one of a sunset with the sun behind the mountains, the sky pink and purple, and whole thing mirrored in the lake around the Imperial City.</p>
<p>The visuals of Oblivion are something that blew me away for months before and months after its release.  TES V will probably leave me a drooling mess. :P</p> <p><a href="http://www.videogamezombies.com/">JimTheFly</a></p>]]></description>

<p>Aside from the wiry trees and the more detailed shadowing*, this is basically identical to how vanilla Oblivion looks on a modern PC. I'm not really getting the adulation here.</p>
<p>Surely the console versions don't look <i>that</i> much worse, do they? I thought they stacked up pretty well, though I suppose that was back in 2006.</p>
<p>There are some aerial shots in the video that simply aren't possible within Oblivion because of the way it loads cells, but otherwise... nah, it's really not that different.</p>
<p>*I'm not a great fan of either change, to be frank, especially since I use vanilla Oblivion as an example of the one game that does tree shadows pleasantly. I loved the whether system and the day-night cycles. Both the sunset and the night's sky was beautiful and if you play it enough hours continuously, you begin to feel in rhythm with these cycles.  LOL.. I remember playing it once in my bedroom and I think I fell asleep with the 360 one and I have 5.1. Anyways, when I woke up, I checked the window to see why it was raining (half asleep) to realize it was Oblivion.</p>
<p>If you think of what this game is to Morrowind and what that was to dagger fall, the successor to oblivion will be something worth waiting another 4 or even 5 years for and that makes me excited :) I am such an Oblivion fanboy :)</p> <p><a href="n/a">okenny :)</a></p>]]></description>

In Oblivion (with the help of some natural world mods, especially), the trees were much larger, varied and realistic.</P>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>I have a degree in violin performance, that is a very famous symphony by Antonin Dvorak. It's his symphony "number 9" and he based it on his impressions of music from "The New World," back when America was "The New World."</p>
<p>I've played it with orchestras before. It makes me a bit sad that when people don't recognize this stuff.  You can hear inspiration that a lot of film music composers have found in this music.</p>

<p>now before you stone me, let me explain.</p>
<p>Everything looks bland, with the exception of the ocean, falling trees, ice, and sun rays.</p>
<p>In my opinion the real world is 99.9% of the time completely boring to look at... it's only rare eclipses, sunsets, clouds, storms, etc that are pretty to observe...</p>
<p>Games are supposed to embellish things in life to make them look more amazing, not just attempt to recreate them perfectly.</p>
