If I were you, I wouldn't feel bad about not getting the Wii version on launch.

When you bought it for PS2, you showed support for Clover Studio - the studio no longer exists.

Buying it for the Wii means "Hooray, Ready at Dawn does decent ports" and "Yay! Capcom can just port games onto Wii to make money instead of making something new for the console."

Based on all the "wish I had pre-ordered through Capcom" responses (self included) they probably only had to ship 2-3 of these and are getting great free publicity for it. ;)

That said.. have the game for the PS2, bought it about a month after it came out, and think the Wii version sounds interesting.. but I just can't quite pull the trigger when I already have the game and it doesn't sound that much different. I may do the "bad" thing and wait for it to drop this time around... (that's forgivable if you bought the PS2 version at full price, right?)

The small release games are the one you actually SHOULD pre-order. Though Okami may actually be found in mainstream retailers (Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, etc.), a lot of smaller titles (most Atlus releases) you won't find in brick-and-mortar stores other than Gamestop and its ilk, and for those titles, the number they order is highly dependant on the number of pre-orders they get. Now, if you buy all your games online it's less of a problem.

Does anyone know if the Nintendo Power review stuff is true? I don't have the magazine but I read that the 7.5 review of Okami on Wii (May 2008 issue) says:

"The controls just didn't make the jump to Wii as well as they should have… Okami is a work of genius,
but you should play the original [PS2] game instead of the Wii version if you can."

Can anyone verify that? It's more flamebait fodder than anything but I'm curious.

I feel terrible. I bought Okami on PS2 when it was released and I still haven't played it.
I keep buying games up before I can finish the ones I already own. I guess it's justifiable though considering that some of them are discontinued if they don't sell well.

@denki: Right, I think maybe you're referring to plastics made from corn husks? It has a degrade time of 80 days, I think. I only remember this because I watched a special where the big thing was "we give beverages out using cups made from corn!" And, well, paper is always recyclable and degrades swiftly, and you can make glue with some really simple components, one of which is flour and water.

I would've loved to own this, and it fits in so well with the theme of the game, but lacking both the actual hardware and owning the PS2 version, I really can't bring myself to spend the money. So I'll just watch and yearn.

Sage plants have the coolest looking leaves, in my opinion.

Maybe this is a step in the right direction for making more green-friendly crap- it's still a waste of paper and glue and all the other materials, but maybe we'll begin to see more biodegradable stuff in our packaging- there is biodegradable plastic out there that could work for shrinkwrap, although as games are probably going to go the "download-only" route with the nexgen consoles (8th gen), companies would be lax to try to adopt this soon un-needed tech.

Um, I hope that they make basil stamps for MH Wii, as no Capcom stamp-herb garden could be complete without Basil. Afterwards, Rosemary and Thyme, and mint would also be nice. (Thinking on MH, if the Aels/cats get more use in teh Wii version then maybe catnip stamps)

This is a very nice touch from Capcom, its the sort of thing that sets Okami apart from most other games. The fanbase don't bitch moan and the company truly cares about its fans and its game. This is just the icing on the cake.

I wasn't aware this was a game people were pre-ordering in the first place. It's not exactly a huge release. Sure, us here in Kotaku-ville are all psyched for it, but we're the minority guys and that's probably why Okami PS2 sold so badly. Happy Feet, on the other hand, sells quite nicely.
