If you check the guys blog, he was just in Asia finishing up some manufacturing stuff. PDP has an Asian office to assist with manufacturing. PDP also has a working relationship with Konami. I see nothing that really suggests it's a hoax, especially if you read back on his blog. And, now that it's starting to show up in retail systems, has an actual PDP SKU, I can't think of a reason to think that it isn't real.

That doesn't mean I couldn't be wrong, of course :P

Now a nice looking headset is a little more, you can get any nice ones for a lot cheaper. If you have to have this one...if you are buying the LE than you probably don't care about price.
