The best part about it is that it looks like it came straight from the MGS4 world. I don't know what the Halo 2 headset looked like or its appeal (besides being Halo), but real-world, practical video game items, for the game of course, are sweet.

its not based on the 360 wireless design its only based off the physical aesthetic of it. Really from what I can tell from reading the blog and looking at the renders the biggest similarity is that they have a softer type speaker piece instead of the weird plastic nub tunnel that a lot of blue tooth headsets have. (the one i currently have has it and it can be very uncomfy if you wear it for a while).

the 360 headset uses 2.4 ghz radio frequency as opposed to bluetooth, so unless 360 randomly has bluetooth as well it wouldnt work with it

really looking at the pictures on the site, i can see a few similarities but they're really not even that similar.

I don't like the way you said it, but its a good point.

The reason why I read, say Edge, is because of its formal third person perspective. I like the informal first person perspective in certain things on this site, like the Crecente/Bashcraft emails, but you know when reporting a story a third person perspective would be best.

BTW, I hear the 360 Bluetooth headset doesn't fit as comfortably as you'd expect. Any truth in this? I'm very satisfied with my Jabra for the PS3 so in that case I wouldn't purchase this one, even though it looks hot.

honestly it would probably be something small enough that he may have not done it simply to save time. generally they're not going to get tons of time to do something like this. plus its not like this render would go to the factory and they would make it verbatim, little stuff like that probably would be ignored.

also as far as the price is concerned I have a plantronics blue tooth set that was like 40. I dont like the ear insert that much because its made of plastic but it works pretty well overall. I'd say the price isn't too outrageous as even with the one I picked up there were more expensive models. Also I don't know if mine is a "bluetooth 2.0" or not which the blog mentions this one is.

I think that it would be great Microsoft didn't keep such a closed system for the 360. That way we could use some of our own peripherals without having to buy into proprietary crap, and companies could manufacture their own wireless devices. But we know this won't happen.

I don't know... one of Kojima's first concepts for Metal Gear was a game that would stop working when you lost the game.

Of course, he never went through with it... imagine, surviving to the last level, only to fail, and have to go out and buy a new copy of the game!

I don't get why some people are vexed by the $60 price tag. I think it's safe to say that it's about the average price for a Bluetooth headset. Sure, there's some cheap Motorola ones out there ... but that's what they are ... cheap. And cheap isn't necessarily the greatest thing. I never mind spending a few extra $$$ for a quality product.

I looked through the guy's blog and he makes references in other posts to his "friends" and "contacts" at Konami. So either this man has a vivid fantasy life or this might actually be legit. I tell you what, if something like that was bundled in a Limited Edition of a game, I would get it in a second. I am never going to pay $20-$30 extra for a game when all I get extra is a making of movie, some concept art, and maybe a soundtrack. Throw in a badass bluetooth though...or maybe a t-shirt...and I would get that in a second.

on the actual website it says it's a rendering which would in fact be not real, though generally not made in photoshop either, I would guess either illustrator or maybe a 3d rendering, but really illustrator would be the most likely gradients let you produce ridiculously realistic looking illustrations. A couple months ago in my second photoshop/illustrator class our first project was to basically do the same thing. Make something photo realistic in illustrator.

I could definitely see this being real. I don't think I would buy one because I already have a bluetooth headset but mine is kinda uncomfortable so potentially I could pick this up.
