Being an expert player on GH2 and GH3 (I can consistently pass Jordan and Through the Fire and the Flames on any 360 or PS2 guitar), I must say that I absolutely love the Fender, more so than the other.

True, it took a small amount of time getting used to, but it feels so much better and the solo buttons are awesome. The fret clicking like others have mentioned doesn't bother me at all, and I'm SO THANKFUL they got rid of the strum clicks.

@Lot Krotan: I have to agree. While I don't mind the buttons on the Fender, I've found it incredibly hard to get a "feel" for the beat/tempo when I'm trying to play songs. Not to mention that I can never "feel" if the strum is going to register. This leads to over/understrumming since I can't hear them.

What makes it worse is that the Fender's clicks come when the fret button is released. Which means during HO/POs and particular fast portions (see Reptilia: Refrain) I'm hearing the clicks AFTER I have already played the note. Which means that I'm hearing both the note played in game and the note a second time after releasing the fret. I can 100% Reptilia on the LP, but give me a Fender and suddenly I look like a novice on that song.

It's amazing how that one little click can throw everything off. Even in the month when my LP broke and was in the process of being replaced, I was unable to adjust to the new guitar. Yet when my LP came back I was right back to where I had always been.

If they could just take the click away from the frets and give me some kind of "click" on the strum I'd be happy with the Fender. The buttons aren't that hard to get used to, though I find "flailing" to be more effective than trying to make the transfer to the lower frets (still)

Now before all americans go through the roof over us paying waaaaaay too much, this would not be equivalent of the package costing $375. There's still a one Euro per Dollar mentality on everything here besides Microsoft's consoles that go cheaper and Sony's that go for more in Scandinavia only. So this would be a $240 deal for the full game with instruments.

This is still much higher than the US though and I feel sad for such a harsh treatment from EA.

The "good" news in this is that the release is one day before I get married. After that I will be gone for honeymoon and when I get back it will be full summer during which my consoles usually stand idle... so I'll give the game a few months to drop in price... if I can resist the temptation to buy it anyways.

What I do wonder now though is, could European DLC be used with an imported Rock Band? At this price point, not even shipping, custom fees and sales tax could get the US rock band up to the same price.

Well...i for one am extremely excited.

Yes, it's taking a SILLY amount of time to be released, YES it's a bit pricy, but as far as i'm concerned apart from MGS4 this is the only other game i have to own this year.

I don't know why people are complaining about it being more expensive than it is in the US.....EVERYTHING in the UK is more expensive than the US. As my friend says way above, you could buy the standalone game over here and use your existing controllers and import the others. And PS3 owners could probably import the full package for the price it will be over here, but have it months earlier.

But anyway....i'll be one of the few on here to say HOOOOOOOORAY!!! May can't come quickly enough!

Wow, all downloadable songs available in the US will be available at release in Europe. There are a lot really fun songs, just pass on Rush. Great song choices, but the vocals are terrible. Very fun game. Two thunmbs up, even with all the dlc.

If MS did pay for an exclusive release time frame, then smart business move on their part. Rock Band has the potential to attract new people to their product.

THERE IS NO DEAL SIGNED FOR AUSTRALIA AS OF 7TH OF APRIL 2008.
There, it has been said. It is tragic I know, but there is currently no deal signed with EA for Australia yet, which leads me to believe the game may be still a few months off here (at least).

@Lot Krotan: I prefer the clickless strumming, and I plan on stress-testing my own Fender when I get it (I was playing on my little brother's copy when I visited the US, and he had just gotten his RMA and told me he didn't want me to break that one, so I played delicately) so I can see how much it'll take before things go haywire.

I found the GH guitars' tilt sensors a little oversensitive, but that's probably because I love rocking out like crazy, or occasionally moving my left arm.

We're one of a rarefied few who did like the X-Plorer, it sounds like. Those buttons were nice and easy, if a bit small.

Furthermore, other editions with only one instrument would be available (drum edition, guitar edition, mike edition) and the instruments alone should come in right about launch day. You're one of the first people I've seen say that. From first timers, to expert players, no one likes using the rock band guitar around here. It doesn't click when you strum, and when you have to alternate pick, it feels like it's going to break at any minute. Not to mention the star power (err overdrive) doesn't work as well as on the other guitars. I'll see my friends trying to deploy it 3 or 4 times before it goes.

This isn't just from a group of 4 friends, I have co workers, dorm mates, class mates, and strangers over to play all the time, and everytime it's the same.

then again, they're fighting for an explorer, not a Les Paul.

@Lot Krotan: You're kidding, right? The Fender is AWESOME. Frets are less fatiguing than the LP, the upper frets can still be used in regular gameplay (they just need strumming) which makes life easier for expert players, and it just feels heftier.

Not that I don't like or appreciate the LP, but for the fact that my replacement's neck just started having contact problems--and it's an off-the-shelf one.

Given that the 360 only news was correct, I'm also assuming the ridiculous price point news is too. Rock Band looks cool, but given that I could get THREE full-price games for that kind of moolah, and given that most of the stuff I want to play is pay-to-play, I think I'll give this one a pass. Maybe in the future when it's not a total ass-shafting and maybe when they bring it out for a platform I actually use, I'll look at giving them my money.

Buy game alone, then buy drums on ebay, then use guitar hero guitars and any old usb mike or headset for the 360...

reasoning:

1. Prices for standalone pieces are cheaper on ebay in the US now that demand has been met

2. Rock Band guitar blows. We fight over who has to use it.

3. Mike is unnecessary
