When it saw the graphics of The Force Unleashed it happily spun up its graphics card in anticipation. Only to find out that it was a PS3/X360 exclusive. PC was sad, but then thought of KOTOR and was not completely downhearted. PC only had to wait a little while longer and surely there would be an announcement.

So wait PC did. Carefully paying attention to the headlines. Watching for any mention of the fabled game. Then one day PC stumbled across a great announcement, it was about the game! PC quickly opened it up and was overjoyed. The Force Unleashed would be coming to other platforms too. This meant that PC surely wouldn't be left out with his brand new quad core processor and two gigs of RAM. Overheating with anticipation PC read through the list of platforms to make the cut.

The Wii, that was to be expected. How could they not tap into that gold mine. But the Wii, it knew, had only a small fraction of the interactivity that PC had in his gyro mouse and its graphics could not even measure up to the old GPU that PC had replaced a year ago let alone his new one.

The PS2, yes that made sense too. They would want plenty of people to play and so many had bought that paperweight over the years.

Well PC was definitely in awe of the versitility of the design teams. They could pull together a great game on all of these inferior systems and get people to even buy multiple copies of the same game for different systems. PC was overjoyed at all of this system love from just one game. After this happy thought PC continued processing the article.

The PSP, well it is a handheld and people want to take it on the go, but what about cousin Lappy? He's mobile too and he's got that sweet new flash memory harddrive. Oh well, you can't expect children to all have laptops.

The DS, okay that's a little odd. Putting a game that instills awe and majesty of eye popping moves onto a grainy and pixelated handheld just feels very DOS to PC.

Such a great game to handheld systems was a wonder to PC. Why PC even felt a sense of happiness that these simple machines would get to experience the joy of such a great game.

PC was elated to see all of the systems set out, it seemed that The Force Unleashed would truely be one of the most multi-platform games that had been released in a long time. PC was ready for the game that would put Crysis to shame.

Yet when PC finished the article he found no mention of its version there. Surely they wouldn't have left its name off the list. Surely PC must have made the cut. Even most of the B-team members were on the list. They couldn't have missed the $4000 stud sitting on the desk...could they?

They had. PC's hopes and dreams were crushed. PC's hard drive could take this second hand machine abuse no longer and PC's hard drive spun out of control. Overclocking its processor and graphics card the PC left this world with a puff of smoke.

PC was a star no more.

I don't really understand what you mean. The only thing the 360 has to offer more is some content and better graphics. Not much will change in way of physics. Perhaps you can pick up and toss 3 more people in the 360 version, but otherwise you'd be bastardizing the experience in comparison to the Wii.

The point of getting this on the Wii would be to feel as if you're actually controlling the "force" as opposed to sitting still and pressing buttons on a controller while you watch your character react.

I just cannot imagine that any other console experience will even come close to playing this game on Wii. Sword in Wiimote, Force in Nunchuck. It's kinda like.... harmony, destiny, perfection... all that stuff.

in a way i'm hoping the game turns out killer to break some trends,
but my thrifty side hopes it's just like almost every other game that comes out
for EVERY SINGLE platform.

as for the wii, i'm getting sick of its surprisingly unintuitive controls constantly requiring developers to put in little animations of the remote so that we know what the hell we're supposed to do in a given situation, especially since, 9 times out of 10, what we are supposed to do is waggle like a wiitard.

@Majorasblaze: i hear you dude. but the bottom line is not everyone has every console to make a choice, so they are covering all the bases so no one gets left out. although i believe the 360/PS3 will be getting the better treatment across the board. so long as everybody gets a shot at SW: TFU, alls well that ends well.

I'm gonna assume that shield is made out of cortosis ore. As quoted from wookiepeida:

Cortosis ore was a very rare, brittle, fibrous material whose conductive properties caused lightsabers to temporarily short out upon contact. This effect made cortosis a useful material for anti-lightsaber melee weapons, though with repeated strikes, a lightsaber could still cut through it.

I'm assuming that character was a Sith Lord before Darth Bane which would make sense, instead of using a cortosis weapon, a shield would have been more effective and could survive multiple blows.

What is the deal with developing Wii and PS2 games in tandem. All that results in is neither platform getting pushed. Yay multiplatform, the mother fucking scourge of ambitious game development!

Seems like the first time this has been done in almost a decade!

Even though I guess that trailer is made to encourage owners of a certain platform to pick up their copy of the game and not feel that it's inferior to another, namely the PS3 and 360, it seems kind of funny that those two aren't being hyped to have any unique features - I guess they've just got superior visuals and physics, eh?

I have to call BS on one remark the project lead made. Initially, they were only considering PS3 and XBOX-360. Years ago, I interviewed at LucasArts and was amazed that they did not consider the Wii worthy of any development effort, except for a port of some Indiana Jones title they were planning on shipping that following year. (Cough, cough.)

Sure, at the time, everyone thought Nintento was about go out the same door Sega took, but they had no vision of how compelling a direct, 'visceral' connection to a lightsaber could be. When I told them that, (in more polite terms) I was lucky they didn't call security to immediately escort me to the door. No, originally, they gave no thought to anything but the systems with Big, Hot, chips.

Anyway, I'm still not impressed by anything they've shown or revealed for this game. It just looks to be another piece of fairly simple licensed button-mashing (because of all the 'demos' they're going to have to hit) with brain-dead enemies, tedious boss battles, and most likely a fanfic-caliber 'narrative', all in another six-hour, full-MSRP game.* Wow, that's a lot of hyphens.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan, and have been since I saw "Star Wars" first-run back in '77, but this looks to be a game that will at best fall around the midpoint of the Star Wars Game Quality Continuum. Assuming I'm right, and assuming people buy it in spades, you'll never get that truly great Star Wars action game.

P.S. I can't wait to see Kotaku's entry about the first fan to send them pics of all six versions, with a close-up of the ONE RECEIPT they're all on, and all surrounded by a Super Star Destroyer cake.

*--Rebuttal about lengthening game through unlockables and/or Achievement-chasing in three, two....

As for this particular Star Wars game, I think the Wii version will be the definitive one, because as soon as people get tired of looking at the graphics, or better, get used to the awesome visuals, what is it really that keeps you enjoying the game to the end? GAMEPLAY and FUN!

Thats why I think the Wii version will have a small advantage over them all.

But i know i'm gonna want the HD- Better phisics PS3 version. And the extra on the ps3 would have been nice to have... This is worse than the soul calibur 2 debacle :P

Now, Blood Rayne II, which was *awesome*, provided you really like boobs, and I do, had limbs coming off in every which direction some 3 or 4 years ago (at least, possibly longer).

So how is it they've got as far as 1) lift storm trooper in air 2) skewer storm trooper with light saber 3) fling hapless trooper into TIE fighter, but you're still running goofy old combos on regular enemies?

You could throw the lightsaber and control its flight in Jedi Knight 2 - well you can do that in Force Unleashed, but this time it cuts down trees! Horaay, next-gen.

I want to get excited about this game, but it doesn't look like anything particularly new and cool to me. The physics engine combining with the AI produces some entertaining results, but I'll definetly wait for ten reviews lining up with 88+ scores before I think about taking this one home.

Now, if the early Sith in the PS2 version have the archaic, power-pack-fed lightsaber, that'd be pretty awesome. Especially if you could, I dunno, sever it somehow. Or at least be able to slice apart those double-bladed lightsabers, which worked pretty well in Episode I.

It does look like they're doing a good job on the PSP, PS2 and Wii builds. I might *might* just buy the 360 version and the Wii version together. If I had a nicer PC (rockin the ol' BFG GeForce 6800+ 256mb) I would buy it for the PC, as someone will no doubt make a mod for dismemberment.
