Well duh. Then it would be a completely different game. You could say that about any game or any product. It's general knowledge that name recognition will drive up the sale of a product. If some unknown company releases a mp3 player that has the same exact specs as an iPod, it wouldn't come close to selling as much as the iPod. If Halo 3 was called something else and had a different storyline and different characters, it wouldn't sell nearly as well as Halo 3 did. Bottom line is, if you don't like to play games from popular franchises, then go play some unknown game. Nobody is forcing you to play Crisis Core. It's the choice of each individual gamer to play what they want.

The battery does not hold a charge anymore, the directional pad is kinda broken, square does not work for shit/gets stuck down, the spring came off the UMD door, the IR port lens cover is missing, I'm missing the original charge cable, the screen is scratched to hell (I did just remove a bunch of dust from under it while temporarily fixing the digital pad)...

Poor thing, I want to get it a glass coffin, it's served me well all these years.

I find it pretty amusing how xbox360 only dominates just one gaming region mainly because of timing since sony sold just as many ps3's in the same amount of time and everyone including the u.s. media declares it top console even though it's behind in every other significant market, oh wait I forgot most of the u.s. only cares about itself. . . . .

Different gaming markets require different strageties, microsoft's stragety for japan? Offer the 360 at a big discount at launch(hows your support feeling now?) while offering very little if any support for titles that appeal to the Japanese demographic. Japan is the toughest market to crack, not even it's native gaming corporations have it figured out.

Famitsu has a User's Most Wanted Ranking in every issue and before Capcom made the announcement to switch MH3 from PS3 to Wii, MH3 ranked mostly in top 5 in the most wanted list every week back in 2007 before the annoucement in October.

It dropped below 50 after the announcement was made because alot of people were pissed off with Capcom, alot of them bought a PS3 just for MH3 too.

The population of Japan is 127.7 million. 22 million DS systems have been sold in Japan. Of those about 9 million are DS phat.

If you assume nobody who bought a DS phat upgraded to DS lite.
22 / 127.7 = .172 = 17%

If you assume everybody who bought a DS phat upgraded to DS lite.
13 / 127.7 = .101 = 10%

So it's somewhere between 10% and 17%. There is no real way to tell how many people upgraded.
I would guess it's about 12% or 1/8th.

Sorry guys I don´t do console wars, I´m not THAT of a fanboy nor do I dictate a company like a religion that I should follow, and I would have every single console and game on the planet if I could afford them since I like games but unfotunately, I´m not THAT rich so I get the console that has the most sales. that´s why I have a PS2 and a wii now thank you, and only for that reason. Statistics. That´s it. This "nintendo sux, sony sux, M$ sux and it´s over give it up guys" "mangá sux long live comics" "comic sucks long live manga" garbage spoils your fun and makes you close-minded.

StarCraft's massive, massive foothold in Korea is one of those things that happens when everything is just right and typically no one, not even the creator of the game/system thinks it's going to happen, so all they can do is just ride with it. Sometimes it's planned, sometimes not.(Wii ending up #1, PS2 becoming a marketplace force of such power it holds back PS3 sales, DS taking Japan and the world by storm, etc)

How is it 1/6th? It's 1/10 as I said. My point is that it hasn't reached saturation yet. The PSP is having a renaissance right now in Japan, and more and more people in Japan are realizing that it's a viable handheld system. If you look at the trend from week to week, you will see that as more and more appealing games for the PSP came out, DS HW sales dwindled. Why people would fall back on the saturation excuse when the PSP correlation is obvious, is beyond me.
