I'll confess though, it's not because it's a terribly bad map or anything - just that it seems to pop up nearly every other damn match. If they'd just dial down the frequency a bit - or even better, a lot - and it'd be so much more fun.

According to bungie.net my K/D ration on Snowbound 1.03. Barely even holding my own. That's reason enough to trash it. ;)

GT5: Prologue - Wow its so awesome paying $40 bucks for a "suped up" demo (buyers on this are no different than people buying any/all games map packs for any system)... come on get serious here, then you can have fun shelling out the $60 for GT5 later on. :)
(I am not hating on GT btw, always loved the games, and this one looks sexy, but thats all I can say about it)

You basically gotta be honest with yourselves, your glorified cheap blue-ray player is just that... nothing spectacular that can't be found elsewhere. Thats not to say it won't eventually be a great system... when Sony gets off their assess that is.

Personally PS2 is simply still better. So I'll stick to my Xbox and Wii (OMG Wii60 Fan boy! No.)

As for the Halo 3 maps, I am all over them (Sidewinder = Epic Win), still play, still love the game. $10 isn't that much, just don't splurge on your coffees, energy drinks, and your Big Macs... simple as that.. or you can just wait.

Cripes thats alot of crap... I think I am going to go away now. Btw I love my Dreamcast (muahahaha Sega FTW).

Map pack looks sweet, especially Blackout. I'm getting a bit bored with the original set of small maps. Especially Snowbound. God, how I'm sick of Snowbound. A new small map will shake up FFA games a bit, and about time too.

I wonder if Ghost Town will be added to the FFA lists too? Might be overly big though...

At any rate I'll be buying these as soon as they're available. Unlike so many of the tightwads who felt compelled to post here just to say they're not interested. Ten bucks is not much for something that would have taken many, many hours to make. If you think it is - stop posting on game websites and get a job!

What is with all of this vehement Halo-hate? Infinity Ward drops a new map pack for CoD4 and everybody's excited. Then Bungie releases one to a plethora of "On1y 3 mapz?! OMGZ Bungie r teh dev1l! I w0nt pay for dat cr4p!" My guess is because CoD4 is multi-platform...

Honestly, as others have mentioned, Bungie is an amazing group of people that go above-and-beyond in terms of fan service. We all know by know that Bungie DO NOT set the prices for their map packs. Are they overpriced? Yes, I'm not arguing that, but for a huge Halo fan such as myself (read: NOT fanboy, I own one of about every system you can name) I'm more than willing to take the plunge to get my hands on some of my favorite maps from previous Halo games. If you don't play Halo all that much or don't want to spend the money - then don't! They will be free in a few months. But please spare us from your asinine rants during the process.

Why does it seem to be the new thing to hate Halo? Because it is such a successful/popular franchise? Seems kinda emo to me to hate something based on popularity/mainstream appeal. Bungie could release 5 more Halo games, and if they were all top-notch, excellent titles, I would still buy them. It's like with Nintendo; face it, Mario and Zelda are getting a little long in the tooth, but you know what? If Nintendo keeps releasing quality, triple-A sequels to these franchises, I'll keep buying them.

I for one am excited at the chance to wreak havoc with a Banshee on Sidew... err, Avalanche!

I am looking forward to the new maps. I am sick of haters always taking a dig at Halo. Bungie has really delivered on this map pack. A lockout and sidewinder remake, which the community has been wanting for ages as well as a totally new map.

The thing that Halo 3 has that Call of Duty 4 dosn't is Forge. Foundry's a pretty boring map by itself... But thanks to Forge, the fanbase has made thousands of varients. @Cloral: the real deal is that your not paying 50 bucks a year for this game your paying 50 bucks a year for "EVERY" Live! enabled feature like across the board chating via video, voice, and text also don't forget the ecross any game buddie list intergration and things of the such. Also remember if you break it down (ok brotha) your really paying 3.84 a month for live. Since every 50 buck Gold card gives you one month extra, and yes even the new cards that don't say it on the packages.

My main problem with the packs costing $10 is that I'm already paying $50 a year to play the game. So to me, the packs should be free as an incentive to maintain my LIVE subscription. I know people love to bash Halo but one thing that anyone has to admit to is Bungie's dedication to the game and their audience. Everytime I wander away from Halo 3 onto other games they keep bringing me back. I paid for the last map pack, and as much as I played it and with additional gametypes like Grifball I think it was entirely worth it.

I was never a big fan of Halo in the past, but Bungie won me over with Halo 3. Heck, it can take months for Call of Duty to get a patch, or for other games to recieve updates but Bungie is constantly doing new stuff with Halo 3.

well at least these maps are more original than those cod4 campagin maps. honestly infinty ward, take the time to make a NEW map, not just going back to campaign box and tack on a "YOU MAY NOT PASS" barrier or door. for me as both a cod4 and halo 3 player, i'd rather pay for the halo 3 ones with time and effort put into them. plus bungie eventually releases them for free.

maybe that's why i liked that trailer so much.

yeah, a little over the top, and yeah, it's a trailer for a map pack.

but blizzard started it with the expansion-trailers and why not? it's to build excitement for a release.

Definitely picking this up when it comes out, as its one of the only games I care about getting new maps for. As with the last pack, half of my enjoyment will come from the crazy things I can do with them in forge-mostly the construction of oddly shaped polygonal Fusion Coil bundles and the resulting explosions that bring the game engine to its knees ;)

I understood all the hate when we were fresh off the pre-release media blitz, which even those who like the game had to have some disgust for, but its old news guys, give it a rest. Those still playing it don't give a damn about the haters, and those who aren't still playing it, the majority of them are too busy, I don't know, actually playing games they like to spend time and effort on hating Halo.

Thats why I don't even look at most Halo-related news anymore, its like a beacon to everybody with a gripe about anything MS has ever done wrong in the last decade, not to mention people still pissed that [name of their favorite game here] lacks the popularity and recognition of Halo.

That was ... dark. Not a very big demonstration of the maps, but it was pretty cool as a trailer.

I'll never understand the Halo hate, but whatever. Its highly successful and millions have a ton of fun with it.

I was so-so about the first map-pack -- for me the best part was the huge variety of maps people made for Foundry. And I was skeptical about whether I'd want to pay for this one, but Sidewinder looks awesome. And Lord knows I could use me another giant map.

But maybe I've got more money than sense, who's to say.

I'll break the string of haters....As seen by my pic, I am a complete Bungie apologist and that trailer made me quite happy to watch. As I play nearly every day, I can't wait for new maps and will galdly pony up the cash - though I certainly respect the decision of the casual players to wait for them to be free.

I'll never understand the hatred of this type of DLC. It's free for all who choose to wait and there's no one forcing players to buy it. The game's totally playable without it. Would I like it to be 400 points versus 800? Sure, but I don't generally buy DLC except for games like this that i play the crap out of and that I know will be quality work.

It's not Halo/Bungie driving up the prices of DLC and the extortion-like practices - it's people buying millions of dollars of music tracks for GH/Rock, EA and others selling unlock codes as DLC, and MS insisiting that everything costs cash if at all possible.

The thing is, for all the whining about price, people are buying the stuff in droves.

Hmmm was okay. I didn't really get a very good glimpse of blackout (lockout remake) or Ghost Town. Could have done without the voice over as well. Was hoping the guys at Red Vs Blue would demo the map pack like they did the last one, that was at least fun to watch.
