Simple. The 360 A/V cables are branded for the system. You cannot use them for regular devices such as component-to-component from an amp to a TV. Need more explanation than that? The only sensible reason for the 360 HDMI cable and port not to be custom made that I can think of is the group behind HDMI denying it in order to maintain the standard. I mean, seriously, what the fuck is this on the left? Will you tell me that's a common interface and TOTALLY suitable for anything but Xbox360?

And that, sir, throws me back to the main argument. You. Only. Need. One. Of. The. Cables. Packed. In. With. The. Xbox360. Instead, you get plenty of others that are wasted and you will never make use of, unless you suddenly switch to SDTV or whatever.

With the PS3, the choice at least is yours. You got HDTV? You buy a 10-15 bucks HDMI cord. Got a home theatre? Yea, you'll need optical. Why would you, in that scenario, give a rats ass about whether component or SCART is bundled with the 360 and not the PS3?

'Sides, I bought an HDMI cable for £15. It's from Philips, gold-plated. I also paid £25 for 1m of optical/TOSLINK. Those are professional brands. That doesn't mean in reality you will notice any difference to the dirt-cheap £10 HDMI or optical cord.

Take it this way. Instead of having cables you will never make full use of, you get Wi-Fi that you may never make use of in the PS3. That a good counterweight for ya? What's the Wi-Fi adapter selling for again?

To those that say rumble isn't needed, it would drive me insane not getting any feedback from the tires on my cars in racing sims. Games like Forza and GT5 would suck without it. I play by feel, just like real racing. I can play ALL SIM on Forza 2 with no sound. This is ONLY due to the feedback I get from the car through the controller/wheel.

Like when I put the controller down on the table for a cutscene and then fucking rumble kicks in and the noise from the vibration drowns out the audio from the game. Or, when the game doesn't send a kill signal before loading a level or whatever and the damn thing won't stop and I have to pop out the battery.

I really don't see the appeal. Wow my controller shakes~

Also, I prefer having a Jump Pack in my Dreamcast controllers, as the controller feels too light without one.

Anyway, I really hope that the price of controllers going up with each new generation isn't gonna be some sort of trend. Let's see...

Wii: $39.99 + $19.99
Xbox 360: $49.99 (if you want wireless)

You should never have to decide between buying a new controller and buying a new game. Honestly, the price of a controller should never be anywhere close to the price of a game, unless the controller really justifies the price (and none of the ones mentioned justify the respective price).

It's the exact same in terms of battery. Also, the reason Sony didn't release rumble packs in the beginning is because for the first Playstation they hired a third-party to create them and they've been holding onto the patent ever since then. They finally gave in and paid the $150 million to implement them.
