SR1 was a hell of a lot fun. It's probably not going to be better than GTA IV but its still a great open world game to play. Dont trash it just because GTA is going to be great. It's a different game. Freakin haters.

That has been the worst trailer i've seen in ages. Especially with all the GTAIV trailers already available they should at least show the new game in motion. I'm not too bothered about the story...

I actually liked SR1, although it didn't have the humour of GTA and it did rip a lot of things off it had quite some improvement on GTA which i really liked, i'll be picking SR2 up when it comes out, but please make the next trailer a better one...

@TK423: I dunno. The game seemed to revel in the fact that it was a parody of a parody. They had that going for them at least. While it's no GTA, the game did have its high points. I can see buying it along with GTA4 just for the hell of it.

Well, unlike most people I'm actually looking forward to this game. And that isn't because I'm a sucker for decent sandbox games either. I enjoyed number one enough that I feel number two will be worth it. The trailer cam out, should have had graphics, but my guess is they don't want to give away to much storyline by showing the scenes those lines came from.

I HATED Saint's Row. It wasn't because it was a GTA Clone. It wasn't because of the music. It was the fact that the game took itself seriously. The vibe I got from the game was that criminal behavior is awesome and that you can't disrespect a playa. This game was full of stereotypes that felt racist to me. GTA was always tongue-in-cheek, with massive amounts of humor and was obviously not trying to be anything serious. But thats the vibe I got with Saint's Row. Also, I know some Saint's Row fanboys who will smack you if you "dis the straitest game about the hood yo".

So from the comments, it seems that Saints Row just isn't a cool enough franchise to pull off a trailer like this.

Now, say Banjo-Kazooie had a 30 second, no gameplay trailer of just bear, bird and grunty grunts.... that would've probably gotten a little higher praise.

Personally, I thought Saints Row 1 was fun as hell. I never finished any game in the GTA series because they just got boring after a while. I've put in over 80 hours on SR1, and I suspect I'll put in just as much (if not more) on SR2. I do hate seeing "teasers" without gameplay footage, which up until recently was my biggest complaint about GTA4, but that's not the studio's fault, that's just marketing (when are they ever going to learn?)

I don't understand why people can't buy both games though. Think about it, if SR1 hadn't come out and provided some true competition for GTA, GTA4 wouldn't be half the game it's shaping up to be (for one thing, I guarantee it wouldn't have multiplayer.) Besides, coop through the whole campaign in SR2 is going to be badass on an epic level.

Sure the first game was a clone, but at least it was a clone that improved on GTA (aiming, weapon switching, driving, etc.) Hopefully Rockstar learned a few things from them.

Obviously the purpose of this teaser is just to keep the game in people's minds and let them know that the game is coming out. It would be stupid to show any gameplay footage now. People would just be comparing SR2's early look to GTAs almost finished graphics.

I liked Saints Row but the way GTAIV is lookin'... I just can't bring myself to care about this title. I will be amazed if it ends up being half as good as GTAIV and I thought aspects of the first one were comparable to previous GTA titles.

I seem to be in the minority, but I for one am looking forward to this game. SR1 was fun to play, and the plot was entertaining.

The argument that "If it's not GTA... it's crap." is bollocks.

As good as GTA will be, it won't last forever. After one to two months a lot of people will have already have finished GTA and will be looking for more. And apart from the DLC (which in itself will not likely extend the playtime of GTA to infinity) it will be time to buy a new game.

SR was fun to play, and GTA (easily a top ten franchise of all time) is not the first or last fun game to have come along.

But it wasnt because of it's story I can tell you that. The story in Saints Row took itself a bit too seriously for it's own good, but the game was fun as hell.
